So, I've finally ordered my rb26 and I'm in need of some knowledge from someone that has actually done or knows about rb26 swap with rb25 trans.

I've read that r32 rb26's use the push type, as well as some early model r33 rb26's, but the later model r33 rb26's used pull type. My rb26 is a R33.

I'm at work right now so I'm not sure if my trans is push or pull type but i was hoping to get a few questions answered regardless.

Let's say i have a push type. From what I've read no matter if it's push or pull type the rb26 flywheel WILL work with the rb25 trans. And from what I've read the only issue with using the rb26 clutch is that it's too big for the rb25 bell housing. Could this issue be remedied by simply using the rb26 bell housing mated to the 25 trans? I've also read that you could grind the inside of the 25 bellhousing for it to fit. If the flywheel will work no matter what rb transmission wouldn't that mean the starter would work and fit any rb transmission/flywheel?

Also if i have a pull type...I have a question, with the pull type clutch couldn't i just use the pull type neo trans with the rb26 bell housing? are there any dis/advantages to pull or push type?

I've also read you can remove the transfer case and weld a plate over it, is this true?

My rb26 came with a sweet nismo clutch/pressure plate and flywheel, i'm hoping i can use these in the 25 trans. or if the transfer case can really be removed and plate welded over...i'd use that. I know this stuff as been covered, BUT there seems to be A LOT of controversy around this subject. I want some concrete answers.

Run a rb25 flywheel

Rb25 clutch (one that corresponds to your specific rb25 series transmission)

Rb25 starter.

Attach specific slave cylinder according to setup

I'm selling the clutch... and going push type. I have a pull type 26 one and don't plan on husing a pull type 25 trans . Aren't rb20, 25, and 26 flywheels all interchangeable? That's the impression I'm under...also if that were the case seems like starters would be too. Just have different connectors?

RB20 and RB25 flywheels are interchangeable, RB26 flywheels require different flywheel bolts.

All R33 GTR's used Pull Type clutch systems, early model R32 GTR used Push type, then in 1994 they switched to pull type.

if you want to convert to a push style clutch you'll need the following.

R33 GTS-25T (RB25DET) Clutch kit, Transmission, clutch release lever clutch release bearing with sleeve and slave cylinder. (this is assuming you are going RWD.

if you are keeping the GT-R Gearbox you'll need a Early R32 GTR transmission front cover, clutch kit, release bearing with sleeve, release bearing lever, slave cylinder and you'll need to drill and thread the new holes for the slave cylinder (casting remained on that side of trans through the years)

Okay, well I have the 26 flywheel and bolts. I could just bolt up 25 clutch to that?
Or does that mean there's more to it than that? I'm guessing just get the 25 bolts?

Sorry for the nooby question.
I'm going rwd yes.
According to the nismo flywheel part number its the same for the rb20, 25, and 26..
seems like I may be okay with the flywheel...just curious about the bolts
