I am in the process of doing an S13 Manual seatbelt conversion. Installing S14 Seatbelts. The swap itself is easy and understood.
My question is how many of you have done it and removed the Electronic Seatbelt Control Module? Does it affect anything else when removing it?
What is your reason for removing it or leaving it in?
Here is what i am talking about.

Doesn't affect anything at all. Mine is unplugged because the auto seat belts would work randomly.

Good news, i have heard a few random cases of it affecting the dome light or door switches for some reason. Not sure if that is true.

lol, yes that is what it does. Just looking to see what else it might do. If nothing then it is for sure 100% better to remove. If there is a chance that it does anything else or assists in any other functions then it is not worth removing.

I just believe that if it is no longer serving a purpose, it is probably best to remove it since the power flowing through the wiring will stop there instead of getting power sent to the 4 seat belt track and motor connectors.
I just want to make sure that it does nothing else other than seat belt track and motor controller functions.
I appreciate your input. I will also be reviewing the wiring diagram to hopefully help put out a final answer for others.

Take it out, I've removed it from both my and my buddy's car and we both haven't had an issue with any other components in our cars.

My driver seat belt took a shit, so I just unplugged it with the belts in locked position. Gives me no problems what so ever.

The S13 Seat belt Control Unit is 100% safe to remove, as a matter of fact it is a great idea to remove it when doing the manual seatbelt conversion.
The S13 Seat Belt Control Unit has the following signals, functions and integrations.
-Instrument Panel Seat Belt Warning Light
-Warning Chime (In the USA, M107 (Seat Belt Control Unit) triggers the warning chime. (Specifically via pin #33)
In manual seat belt models, M103(Buckle Switch) triggers the warning chime.)
-Integrates with the 10A Fuse for the Meter and Gauges, Heads up Display Control Unit, Warning Lamps, Auto Antenna Timer, Time Control Unit, Daytime Light Control Unit (Drivers side kick panel)
-Integrates with the 10A Fuse for the Interior Lighting, Radio, Clock, Warning Chime, Time Control Unit, A/T Control Unit, Heads-up Display, HICAS Control Unit, Auto Antenna Timer (Drivers side kick panel)
-LH Buckle Switch
-LH Front Limit Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-RH Front Limit Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-LH Rear Limit Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-RH Rear Limit Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-LH Shoulder Belt Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-RH Shoulder Belt Switch (Seat belt Track Sensor)
-LH Seat belt Drive Motor

Was this necessary? Not trying to be a dick but I think the guy got the point that it's safe to remove.
Unless you do something else different or possibly get the harness portion damaged or wet, I don't think you'll have any problems with the dome lights or door chimes malfunctioning.

This is amazingly detailed! This actually makes me a lot more comfortable! I did review the wiring diagram myself as well and noticed a lot of those.
This concludes 100% that it is safe to remove.
Thanks everyone for your input.
