Hi everyone! First post! (New to using forums) Anyways my alternator is not charging my battery. Here's the story, I was driving and car died on me at a redlight, battery was dead. Made it home and tested the alternator which I determined was the the problem by seeing it had no output with my multimeter. As of now I have swapped 3 alternators and am on my fourth. Still no charge to the battery. Got a brand new battery and still nothing, checked all my fuses and the 75 amp fuse is good, I have continuity on the ground. (Back of the alternator). Same with the plug can't remember wire colors I think yellow and white, I have tested even more just can't even think anymore I'm in the army and have limited time and supply (stationed in hawaii) I read something about the bulb circuit not being completed won't let the alternator have output possibly something like a trigger wire for the internal voltage regulator. Also something about a trigger wire to kick it on. My cluster is also completely out tach, gas speedo and temp gauge all out, only thing on is the clock. I have done so much searching and tried other peoples solutions to no success. I'm very fed up and trying to stay positive. This system is simple so I thought but me and my friends have been failing. I'm in desperate need of help and any help is appreciated. I'm not a pro mechanic but I know some. Thanks in advance!

On my sr i had the same problem
Tested that bulb circuit and it was ok
Tested the other wire in that same connector ... was good
I even looped that power wire(from the connector side to the out-put post of the alt)
On my friend race car its like that and it works !?!?
Still no voltage to my bat.
I recheck my fuse and a 100amp(that fuse is holding by two bolt inside the fusebox)and a 75amp
Change those two fuse . Redid my wiring like stock and it works now

Thanks for the reply! I'll definitely look at that 100amp fuse, may even just change em out for shits a giggles if it tests fine (could be burnt).

Your dash gauges fuse is blown. It is located in the driver's side footwell area. Until that fuse is replaced, your battery WILL NOT charge! I'm guessing it has something to do with the dash alternator/battery charge light not receiving power.

There is a 10amp fuse in the engine bay fusebox that you should check too. I forget exactly which one it is, but I've had it cause charging issues in the past.

So more on that 100amp fuse, I have no idea where it is, it looks like that whole fuse panel containing the 100amp fuse was relocated? It's missing :( I took my cluster our last night buy ran out of time and couldn't test the harness.

Is that for real? Geez. Well I know what fuse that is. I remember my orange illumination wire on my radio harness kept grounding and popping that blue fuse in the drivers kick panel.

Problem solved! It was the charge bulb in the cluster!

But now I have a bigger problem! My meter fuse pops every time I put it in reverse, I guess my reverse lights/switch is grounding out. Anyone have this happen to them? My s14 is a 5 speed swap btw
