easiest way to unclip harness plugs?

I'm trying to pull all the a/c heater stuff but im having trouble getting the plugs off the climate control. ive tried using my thumb to push down and pull the plug out as well as use a flat head to push it down and pull it out but im not having any luck.

is there a tool or a trick to these plugs? im tearing my fingers up trying lol
