I've found a lot of contradicting information on this but im trying to get the flywheel resurfaced for an sr20det,apparently there is a step not sure the size but this step contributes to the long life of the clutch,i was at the machine shop and theyre not sure if the step goes outward or inward or if you even need a step,my personal opinion is that its inward and that it does need a step but ive been wrong before so any help with this would be aprreciated, i want to do this correctly so my new clutch doesnt slip 6 months down the road.

What did it look like before?

yes, it is definitely preferred to have a step, I believe its .007" IIRC

EDIT: outwards, away from flywheel towards pressure plate. IE raised or "outward" as you put it if i am making sense of what you're saying.

When i took it out it was almost smooth but you can see there was a step just couldnt tell weather it went in or out cause of how worn out it was.

Pretty sure it's out but don't quote me on that. Pretty sure the step is .007"
