single cam tranny shifts late 5k rpms

My gfs single tranny is havin trouble shifting into 2nd gear.it revs up to 5k rpms then it goes into a long gear. Wat could it be?needs another tranny?

Replace the filter. Also does the O/D light blink?

We tried messing with the overdrive having it on and off and nothing.will try the filter for sure.could it simply be a bad tranny?

Possibly bad transmission, filter could be the problem but then again could shock it. Well, at least automatic transmissions for 240's are everywhere dirt cheap with usually nothing wrong with them?:-/
