so have started a major rebuild of a 1990 240.
my question is:
I found a hard line not going to anything that goes from the front of drivers engine bay to the back of the passenger side and goes down...
can I remove it?

Take a picture of it
That's the fuel tank evap line that goes from the gas tank to the charcoal canister(plus some rubber ones) The choice is up to if you want to remove it or not. Just make sure you modify the system if you remove it

Exactly what he said..but did you really need to start a new thread for this? We have a thread for small questions like this for the next time

post because this is one of the few forums I know where people get bashed for making a thread asking a question, cause people dont want to post.. arent very friendly, or simply have this expectation that everyone already knows everything about cars.... sigh....

okay i'll just not post next time. thanks for the answer though. the hose goes no where and is just sitting in the engine bay and disappears down the passenger firewall. my car is a RB20 swap...

You don't need it, remove it...that is unless you are concerned about emissions testing.
