I've searched for a while and couldn't find an exact answer to my question... I have recently purchased a '89 S13 (KA24E) with no transmission in it. I couldn't find a 89-90 S13 KA24E transmission for sale so I purchased a transmission out of a '98 S14 (KA24DE). I know it has the crank position sensor on it that S13s (KA24E and KA24DE) don't. My question is will the '98 S14 (KA24DE) transmission bolt on to my '89 S13 (KA24E)? Do I need to do any modifications to get the speed senor to work or anything? Or will the speed sensor plug in directly? Do I just ignore the crank position sensor and just leave it on the transmission? What else is needed for it to work properly on my car? Thanks in advance for your help!

Should bolt up, bell housing bolts should line up. VSS can be swapped.

Should bolt up fine and you can just leave the crank sensor on and unplugged. The gearing between s13 and s14 speed sensors is a little different. Not sure if the s14 sensor will send the correct signal. You may be able to put an s14 gear on an s13 sensor and that may work. But dont quote me on that lol. I would like some confirmation on that.

It's not an s13/s14 issue. It's a DE vs E issue. Dohc speed sensor I believe will read incorrectly (double on sohc?)

As long as your rpm's work, it's not that big of a deal. Been driving without a working speedometer forever, just don't go too much faster than the cars around you :)
