Has anyone taken out the Nissan emblem on the hood or on the trunk?  What's the safest way to do it?

Assuming it's an adhesive sticker/decal, just get a heat gun to soften the adhesive and use a fairly blunt wedge of plactic (an old credit card should work) and peel it off. If you don't have access to a heat gun (basically a big, high-powered hair-dryer), just use a regular hair-dryer. It won't get as hot so it'll take longer, but it should get the job done. Make sure there's not an additional bolt holding the decal on through the panel (like the front "NISSAN" decal on S13's). If this is the case, there will be a hole that will need filling with body filler...however, most decals are just stickers.

I guess I should have put a warning or disclaimer...
If you do use a heat gun, be very careful and use it sparsely...IT WILL MELT PAINT! &nbsp; If you don't think you can trust yourself with one, you're better off with the hair-dryer.

wait for a sunny day. &nbsp;leave your car out for the morning, then use some dental floss, or a credit card, etc. &nbsp;nothing metal

also, buy some cleaning solution that will remove the leftover glue

What sort of cleaning solution is safe on paint.
And what's not safe for paint? &nbsp;Any tips or opinions?

(Got a big dealer sticker on my hood that really needs to go <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('> )

What cleaning solution do you recommend? Anything I can find in a local supermarket? I took off the rear 240SX emblem on my 98 but there are still small bits of junk which I can't seem to remove.

Use Meguiar's Step 1 cleaner you can get it at Pep Boys it won't messup your paint and it will take off the residual glue and what not. &nbsp;Make sure to polish and wax the area after you done cleaning.

just in case the Meguiers doesn't work (never used it so I wouldn't know), you get stuff called Goo Gone (or something like that) at your local hardware store that works really well and doesn't harm paint.
