Hey everyone, Ive on the board for about 3 weeks, reading up on the 240 so when I get mine. But it looks like I will not be getting one! . Well its beacuse my dad makes signs and he is going to make a sign for a car dealership for a trade in for a car. He has about 7-8 grand balance there...But you know how used dealerships crank up the price. But it seems like he will not be getting any 240's there. He did have other cars im gonna have to pick so can anyone help me pick out a car??Please its gonna be my first car since the ford escort (hate that car). Well the ones that interested me was 96 honda civic hatch back a 96 Accord and a 95?del sol. Not sure on the specs but I am going to find out tommorow. What do you think guys HELP! Oh yeah he also has a like I think 96 4runner Im thinking about that.
On the hatch back tho it needs new tires and a rim the interior is missing a pannel (car guy was gonna fix it up and sell it) Car dealer says #### fix it up to give to us but i dont think I would be getting my moneys worth /(CREDIT 7-8 grand) hmmm i just dont know Ill write the details later. Thanks

Well If I had to chose it would be the civic hatchback (what trim level is it? ) Then the del sol. Also Horrible= getting your left ball cut off not oh no my dad is buying me a car :rolling eyes:

I say get the hatch, too. That is, unless the del Sol is a VTEC (160hp), then get del Sol. Otherwise, the Civic Hatch has a decent amount of potential and it's really practical with all that room. Give us some stats/trim levels and maybe we can help you out better.

based on what u said so far, i would get the civic h/b, vtec del sol might be a good choice 2 for the price range though. i really like 240's A LOT better than those cars though, u should sell whatever car it is that u get, then use that $ to look elsewhere for a 240SX.

BlankFlip has a good idea...a mid '90s Honda with a decent number of miles on it should be worth $6-8K. You could sell it and buy '91-'93 S13 and maybe have a grand or two left over for mods.

if the del sol is vtec, DEFINITELY the del sol, a lot more power than the hatch i'll bet, and its got very nice handling
2 seater thou heh.. not like ppl will Love crawling around ur civic h/b anyway

Actually, a 91 s13 can be had for under 3 grand, so that's at least 3 grand for mods. Sell the civic and buy a 240!

what ever you get just sell it and than keep looking for the 240

the civic hb has only 106 hp or something terrible like that. get the del sol if its an si or a vtec. accord second cause the interior is nicer

i say just get the del sol because everybody and their grandma has a #### civic. I don't really see many del sols around where i live and i just think they're all around a lot more fun :-)

make sure u look up the NADA value of those cars...
i hear everyone picking the del sol, however my friend has a B16A (vtec) del sol and he got smoked by a DX hatchback
2 reasons my friend cant drive and the del sol is very heavy because they have alot of structural beams cuz it is a T-Top...
i would get the car that is the easiest to trade/sell for alot of money and then buy your 240sx =)
also remember they owe u money, you dont owe them, so dont let them jack up the price.
u shouldnt be paying 7k for a del sol or a hatchback civic
tell them u want the BMW M3 and u will give them an extra 1000 too
hahha
u wish dont yea?

heavy?
last I checked they weighed around 2500lbs...that's less than a 240.

ur dad wouldn't get mad if u found a good deal on a 240sx. sounds like u have ur mind set on getting one of those cars though, but if it were me i would have my mind set on a 240sx.

civics are poo.....................

del sols are kinda cool, i guess..........

if the accord is 2 door, V6, fuckin jump on it, those things are a respectable car. even if its 4 door, so long as its V6 and 5-spd, go for it. insurance may be cheaper, there are still mods for it.

i would compare them to maximas except maximas are way cooler, i wanted a maxima before, and an accord for that matter, but i cant belive no one mentioned it.

of course if its auto then dump it, i'd rather have a 5-spd tercel

blank, my dad supposedly said that the 240's break down easly and that its too old and will cause trouble, I wanted a 93.Cnt afford newer model. But I think thats bull nissan is great most jap automakers are good and built to last. The dealer said the same thing when i asked if he was going to get any 240 but i think he just didnt want me to get one and just pick that HB at the lot.

ah man, i can't believe he said they wouldn't last n will cause trouble. these cars r easy to maintain n come on, it's a nissan, u can drive em for years n years. seriously though, not a lot of ppl know about 240's in the states or consider them to be very popular. that's why u could get really good deals on them here often, i got a really good deal on mine, but it seems like i've brought that up 2 many times before so i won't talk about it. is ur dad restricting u to the same lot? same cars? or just not 240's?

i asked about 240 coupes when i worked at bmw, merc, acur, lex, chev.... in the used car dep i heard i could get crazy deals.

i said "can u geta 240 coupe"

they said, i never seen a 240 non hatch... and i see cars every day, are you sure"

no i'm lying you fuck, learn life, holy shit.....

dealers are the most dishonest people in the world...

except one dude i dealt with, i test drove a 325is, it had been in a accident, when i said i wanted to take it to my mechanic, he said, yeah okay and ask him whats wrong with it i'd like to know too???

uuummmhhh okay

bing, I'm pretty sure all V6 Accords are autos.

and about the reliability issue...tell him mine has almost 148,000 miles on it and the only problem I've had is the power steering pump went out. To my knowledge, the previous owner had no big issues with it either. I have heard that the older Maximas weren't as reliable (I have no idea of that statement's validity), but 240's will last. Unless seriously neglected, 200+K is probably well within the life of a properly maintained engine.

Cool, a topic I can post on. If the Sol is a VTEC, definitely go for it, they are a lot of fun. Check out my site below for old pics and outdated information.:) Let me know if you have any questions.

That would be my choice too, but I like to off-road, so for you I don't know.

Well i have got the spec's. The HB civic dont really matter beacuse for that year its same Horsepower 106 (uhhhh) they didnt make a vtec or si. Well the accord is auto 94' ex I dont know if its v6 but still its auto so I doubt I will get it. ####, yeah I have to pick something from the lot. Its the only way I get out of driving the escort soon. So I think I will get the HB???I doubt I will race it out. I think its too costly and is not worth it. The HB already has some racing rims (not bling bling thankfully) Ill just drop a system and chill. Ill sell it when I get out of high school and get my 98' 240sx sr20 (doubt that will happen I live in cali) but my 240 for sure and race it when I get out. Any more comments? Oh I am not for sure getting the del sol its just not practical enough for me. Aww well. Im still young pleanty of time to do what I want.

V6 Accords debuted in '95, so it's not a V6.
