Twin turbo the z. Way more reliable for your hp goals and you allready own the car.

well im still in college and dnt have the funds to twin turbo a z since that would cost about 7-10k, im planning on selling the z, add some cash and build a beast of a s14 or buy an already built s14

That makes sense. If your on a budget you could find some pretty bad ass s13's out there that would trade for your z. That is if your z is im good condion.

Hey Welcome, I'm new as well, I think the best bet is to look for a zenki or kouki s14 around 4k then use your extra funds and turbo the motor you have with the car.
You can have a nice DD for 6-7k

If you go with the ka-t and you daily your car your best bet is to buy a seprate engine you can get a ka24de for like $300. Build the motor then pull your ka out of your daily and put the ka-t in the car that way your car will only be down for a weekend. Just my 2ยข
