i just put an optima battery in, and now it seems as if my sub is running at less than half power. i checked all the wiring from my battery to my amps to my sub and speakers, and it all seems fine. The only place i could geuss there is a problem is where my amp power cables connect to my battery, but wouldnt that just make my system not even turn on? if anyone has any insight to this i would greatly appreciate it.

thanks,
jonathan

it wont play, but if you are on a shitty ground, it won't play well.

its odd because, the only thing i changed was the battery, and now my system sounds really odd, i would expect it to sound just as it had before? but instead its at half power... I do know my ground is fairly weak, it could use some thicker wire, but by upgrading the battery would it further expose my ground problem? im just confused, because i would expect to play just as it had before...

you would expect that wouldn't you? have you checked that ground yet?

(btw: the only reason I mention it is because I have been an ET for the last 8 years.)

how much power are you running? is there corrosion on the ground?

Get yourself a gigantic capaciotor so your amp wont run outta juice when your subs hit...

hahaha. sooooooooooooo smart. no, really that cap will only work as good as your battery and alternator. and if you aren't pushing massive power, it shouldn't need it. I built a system (without a cap) with a 1000w mono block, and 400w 2ch for the front stage. this system could easily blow the windows out of a car with the right sub (we only had 2 12w3's) no dimming of lights or loss of power on a stock battery.

optima's are supposed to be pretty hardcore when it comes to pushing power and cold cranking amps. the gremlin has to be the wiring my $.02

hrmm i did check my grounds (theyre fine)and some of my coworkers at sears also helped me check out my fuses on my amp wiring as well and they all looked good, . I'm running a 800.2 kicker amp into a 12 inch l7, and also some 650 watt sony xplod junk amp 4 channel to my components and rears. im going to take it to circuit city and see what they say, i hear they're cool there.

thanks for all ur help,
jonathan

did u let the battery fully charge before you started pumpin the jungle beats???
that could be a reason let the battery fully charge first then try it if not try it again with the stock battery maybe your optima is bad try it!!!

i work at sears and i KNOW the optima was fresh from shipment, my car even runs cleaner (what seems like an improvement in a wavery idle and less headlight dimming) than before, i dont think its a battery problem. im just so baffled o also right after i put the battery in i was bumpin it in the garage and everythin was just fine i dont know how that would effect whats happening now....

thanks again

well did u fully charge it before u started playing it? even if it was playing fine for a little when u first threw it in it still coulda drained the battery down let that beach charge man!!

side note-just because u work at sears and got it brand new doesnt mean it cant have a problem from the factory

i just assumed it doesnt have a problem, cuz my cars runnin just fine and we also run tests on the power and drain and starting , all our batteries also come fully charged

Did you take it somewhere and have it looked at yet?

You said your ground is questionable. Are you running the same size ground line as you are power line?

my ground wire could stand be be bigger, but other than that its fine, its solidly mounted to a party of my trunk and is around the same size as my power cable... ill let u guys know what circuit city finds

thanks again

Just get rid of the Optima and put your old battery back to save you the trouble and all of the headaches
