So I'm planning on buying a car and I was hoping you guys can give suggestions. I'm 18 years old and I've saved a good amount of my money. I've been into the scene since I was about 16. I've grown to like a lot of cars. so I'm asking Zilvia.
WHAT CAR SHOULD I INVEST MY TIME IN?

:picardfp: Please don't say "scene"; or "game" while we're at it.

You are into cars, maybe even a specific motorsport or manufacturer.

K, what do you want to do with a vehicle?
Drag, drift, show, grip or DD?
What space do you have to work on the car? What tools do you have?
Do you have anyone else who can help with knowledge or skills in your circle?

PS most cars are not an investment, to be clear, they are money pits. Especially a 20 year old car.

I was interested in drift and show, but I also want something to be a daily driver something I can drive comfortable yet still get some performance out of.

It's kinda half half still.
I stuck in between.
My fathers a car guy so tools and a helping hand are no problem. I have plenty of space A full garage to my disposal.
Money wise. I just turned 18
And I work every other day so money is a little scarce.
But I can manage.

I was thinking about a 240sx, 300zx, or a 350z.

Stepping out of that maybe even a s2000, subaru wrx or something along those lines.
I just need some suggestions man.

It was easier when I didn't have the money but now that I do.
In way more picky haha.

^240sx will be the "cheapest" to maintain and modify out of those choices but also will probably be the most expensive because there will always be something you'll need/want to replace on it. I'm a little older than you and I picked up my first 240 (95 S14) back in December.

I chose to pick one up that was automatic because they typically are in better shape for obvious reasons. Still the engine leaks oil and I had to replace an axel, tension rods, and a full tune up. Also I 5 speed swapped it. It's my daily and only car. It smokes and isn't fast but it's reliable and I'm working toward rebuilding the engine and replacing all the seals. Then I'll be set.

S13 or S14 would be a RWD choice. They can be cheap, but a 20 year old car needs lots of little stuff. If you're not looking at drifting it a P10, P11, B13 or N13 are great little cars that have a lot or SR20 parts and are fun, grip, drag and the P10 and P11 are 4 doors for practicality. I am a little partial because I started with FWD SRs and they're cheap.

Just stay away from body work requirements, unless you or your pops is good at it; Big money suck.

Just get something that is fun, take it slow, has quality parts available, and isn't german. :D

Edit: Mazdas are another option too!

IS300. It's nicer. It's newer. It's got room for your friends. It'll will drop more panties since it's a Lexus. And it's easier to swap a 1/2JZ into but the N/A 2JZ is still pretty fun. Pick up hand me down parts from the Supra and LS400. Or get something that doesn't require an $5000+ engine swap to be fun, like a turbo MR2.

+1 on the IS300. NA-T with forged internals and a R154..you'll have a blast.

All depends on how much money you can afford. Are you looking to spend over 10 k ? or under ?

In my opinion a good selection of cars that are affordable yet are fun would be:

MKIII Supra
240sx s13-s14
300zx
subaru impreza ( coupe )
Rx7 (FC)

Obviously if you want a RWD you'll ignore the subaru. But that list is a very small and just a quick one that came to mind.

But either way, i've riden in all those types of cars and each one of them have great personalities. Very fun and affordable.
