Hey guys, I would like to get a steering wheel quick release. I have search and I have been hearing that the L2 is the one to get. The L2 is kind expensive but I dont mind if it is the right one to get. I would like a steering wheel release, that is stiff and doest feel like its going to fall off when I'm driving, also one that is truely QUICK RELEASE. But if there are other quick releases that you guys have or recommend, I would like the input.
Also, where is the cheapest site to get the L2 or others that you guys recommend? Thanks a lot.

I have an L2 quick release as well as about 10 other of my friends. Build quality is excellent, comes from the same factory that the Worksbell Rapfix are made out of...it is pretty solid and will not fall off with proper installation. Pricewise it is pretty damn good...the quick release function is real simple to use and does detach quickly..
I'd highly recommend one...My friend is actually the producer for the L2's and is in the process of getting a lock for the quick release

i personally would recommend the Sparco ones.
i got to examine one the other day and i like it a lot.
seems very solid and very functional.
i like the fact that it seems less bulky than the L2 unit.

Sparco quick release is top notch, uses the splines, but it's expensive at about $280. If you can get it cheaper at wholesale price, go for it. I personally like the old Signal Auto ones. Uses splines and 3 ball bearings to lock in to place. A little smaller than the L2 and it's tried and trusted by a couple friends.

Not only do I remove my steering wheel with my quick release, I also Club the steering wheel then chain it to the radiator core support for added security. Then I chain the wheels of my car to a stationary object like a lamp post. Then I call A1 Security and have two armed guards stand around my car.

I just pull my engine and seal my car in a giant cube of electrified gelatin...
here is mine; i have not used the others listed here; but this one you will have to use a bit more elbow grease to turn the outer ring. but works and i like it.

spl parts makes one. If it is of the same quality as their suspension parts (which it most definately is) it is a good deal at like $165 or somewhere around there.

I'm wondering about the L2, is it a replacement for the hub, or is it an item that attaches between, for example, a Sparco hub and a Sparco wheel?

It's not a hub, it's an add on. It can be used for different types of steering wheels. Some patterns are different for the different companies.

If you live in the LA area. There is a place called ES technical roadsports in gardena. I got my RAPFIX quick release from him. It looks like the L2 but a better quality and you can get a lock.

The LTB is excellent quality, and is used by many racers. I've played with them a couple times on some Honda Challenge cars and they work very well, and have very little play. I plan to use one of them on my car.
