ok over this past winter i stripped my s13 down to nothing to do alot of work paint cage ect... puting my wiring back in and plugged mostly everything up except for engine harness (motor isnt in yet) my hazzards work, but when i turn the lights onwhile the hazzards are on, the tail lights flash off when the hazzards light up and when the hazzards go off, the tail lights flash again. almost like they are wired together. but they arnt. also when i step on the brakes, the tail lights get dim and then blows the fuse if i hold the brakes for more than a sec. i also have no headlights. thats not that big of a deal. im just worried about the tail/ brake light issue. never seen that before...? anyone have this problem? is there something that could be plugged in wrong or not grounded? i am bad with wiring so bare with me. any input will help. thanks

You might have pinched the wire or accidentally shorted something to ground. Trace the wires back from the bulbs to the power source to find where.

ill add this into the topic. i did a rhd swap last year. not running any interior so i ran a us harness but just flipped it. everything plugged in but the headlamp switch. so what i did was get the rhd plug and splice the wires so i could plug it into the rhd switch. the plug is a tad differnt. but the wires were the same color and the same pinout so i just wired them up. so everything should work on that part

Download a copy of the factory service manual. You will find all of the wiring diagrams you need.

Did you mix up the brakelight connector with the rear blinker connector? It would make sense...

What do u mean? Well the plug that I have plugged into the brake switch is the 2 wire red with a green stripe and red with a yellow

Update... I got the taillights not to flash with he hazards. But still blowing the fuse when I step on the brakes. All grounds are good. No broken wires... my hazards and blinkers work fine and my taillights work. Just when i step on the brake pop goes the fuse

Have you taken apart your headlight stalk on the steering wheel? Clean the contacts in there and re-check your issues.

I did. Un wrapped everything. It all looks good. I just don't understand. Could a bad brake switch be the problem?

Brake switch an inverse switch meaning it is always pressed in except for when you step on the brake pedal. As soon as you push the pedal, the circuit is complete and lights turn on. Somewhere there is a short. The brake light bulb has two filaments meaning it needs two signals to work.
Green/yellow: positive signal for the rear lights to turn on when your head lights are on(turn on one of the bulb filaments)
Green/red: signal sent to the taillight when the pedal is pressed
Battery->15fuse->brake switch->tail light(other filament)
Black: is ground.

You have a short somewhere between ground and brake signal either at the brake switch or after the switch on the way to brake lights

Replace fuse, disconnect battery, disconnect one of your taillight connectors, ohm out the green/red and ground, I'm sure you will find your issue.

Get an FSM, it took me 10 min to figure out your issue, good luck!
