i bought a ka24de about a month ago because my current one is about to crap out on me. i'm changing the front crank oil seal and the oil pan gasket, leaks at the crank but changing the oil pan gasket just to be safe!

i can't get the stupid pan off!! all the bolts are off. i don't want to pry it open cuz i don't want to tweak the pan. there's gobbs and gobbs of silicone. i hit it with a rubber mallet but to no avail. is there a simpler way to do this? :wtf:

does the oil pan not have a gasket, it doesn't seem to have one. just silicone.

well i pried mine off, not much force is needed, find a hard plastic piece to wedge in, maybe, or something. once you get a tiny area loose the rest will come.

exactly... according to the FSM u need to use something flat and wedge it in and tap it in with a hammer. go around the oil pan doing this and eventually it'll come off. btw, you r right; it doesn't have a gasket. just sealant.
