So I am in the middle of gutting the interior prior to painting my cage/interior, and I WAS going to keep my heater. I have since decided to remove it. And here comes my noob ness... The two hoses that run through the firewall contain what exactly? Coolant? How do I deal with these hoses when I remove the heater?

Just loop them back together inside the engine bay, yes its coolant.

loop the long one to where the small one comes from. and leave the small on connected to the heater so you don't lose it and need a new one when winter comes around.

Turn the valve in the direction of the other end of the hose so you don't have to "loop" anything. Make it a straight shot, for a straight piece of hose.
