Hi, I have recently acquire my kouki and have been doing all the mods myself. Today I decided to tackle my first hid install and I did get it all powered on and working but my only question is I cant put the headlight dust cap seal back on due to the wires from the hid bulb. My question is, is it required to drill a huge hole in the middle of dust cap to run all the wires through? Im pretty sure this is straight forward answer just want to know for sure before I go drilling. Thanks

btw kit is from ddmtuning.

Just cut the boot or take it off no need to make a thread...

Most generic kits have a larger boot/seal. Drill the cover larger so you can fit the plugs thru and use the boot to seal the hole up. Just becareful not to make the hole too big.

Either run the kit without the cap (its not really needed IMO) or use a 1" or 1-1/4" spade drill bit to make the hole, and pull the rubber grommet/wiring through it. Make sure to use the Spade bit, as they tend to make MUCH cleaner, perfectly rounded holes. Then use a dremel for any fine tuning.

you guys are fucking idiots, running a headlight without the rear seal

its bad enough you're using shit HID kits with the halogen optics

its 2014, go buy some projectors and do the job right

The kouki halogen projectors burn up after only a few years with halogen. The added UV exposure from the HID bulbs will exacerbate that even more, just fyi. I agree that a projector retrofit with all oem hid parts is the way to go. It's so damn cheap now too... you can get everything you need for ~$100 (used, obviously). 10 years ago I was doing retrofits and it cost nearly 5-10x that.

just drilled it 1 inch perfect size and hooked everything up, car looks fantastic with 6k hid without minimizing any light output if any, its a definite improvement over stock anyday . Screw wasting the extra money for the little extra lighting or little misc issues about lighting that wont bother me. I have more important things to worry about. Thanks anyways everyone

Let's not run the rear cover so you can turn the damn headlights into an aquarium...its not like the moisture will cause you to have corrosion or potentially short anything out.

These are uneducated answers. There are dangers involved in running non-compliant lighting components, moreso in ways that they are not intended to be used. This shows that both of you clearly do not have proper understanding and should not be working with these things.

Regardless if the reflective coating gets weathered or worn, I think we can agree that there is no reason to run xenon bulbs with halogen optics. And there is no reason not to seal the headlight like it was designed and intended to be used.

At the bare minimum, it shows that these guys are either too lazy or too ignorant to do things the proper way.

buncha negative hypocrites that know damn well a little hid light even if blinding incoming traffic wont neccesarily cause incoming driver to crash into you like they all sudden just mystically forgot how to follow the road. Not to mention you lowering your car so much can cause an accident from you driving too slow, or making your car faster will cause you to crash sooner, its all "what if" scenarios that has a most minimizing effect if any. Anyways, have fun driving your car with yellow halogen bulbs just because of your little worries. haha

You must be new around here and not know who the 2 guys above you are...HID retrofits and lighting are kinda their forte.

go to harbor freight and get yourself a set of hole saws. They're really cheap and you're just cutting into plastic..

sorry flip, i didnt catch the sarcasm the first time around - i'm getting too numbed by the sheer stupidity on zilvia and thought for a second that you were agreeing. i forgot you slapped projectors into your zenki headlights

no, it probably wont cause an accident. it just shows that your ignorant and lazy.

its kinda the equivalent of the dude who opens the door for himself and says "fuck the person behind me" vs the guy who holds the door open and is considerate for the next person in

damn, i got owned for not having a 6000k hid kit. :(

ps: why does lowering your car make you drive slower?
