I have a ka24de and have tried doing everything to get my idle down. Nothing seemed to work, but today I fabricated a bracket to pinch one of my air lines that goes to the intake manifold. Before my idle was at 1500 now I am able to adjust the idle as much as I please by turning the bolts. The current idle is at 900 rpm. Here is a picture, has anybody else had to do something similar to this?

Why not find the real problem and fix it instead of make a band aid? Anyways this is pretty damn comical.

problem seems to be that the car is getting too much air, closing this line up a bit fixed it and it runs perfectly

You should tell people to ditch their IACV's and buy your new bracket system, it'll sweep the market by storm!

A band aid is not a fix, and you just stated what the issue was so there is where you should start. If you do decide to sell these how much are they going for and do you have a preorder?

EDIT: I know you want help, but you know the issue you have why not post about how to fix the problem instead of post this thing.

IACV was cleaned and swapped out with new gasket , throttle body was cleaned and gasket replaced, tps sensor was replaced and adjusted, maf was tested/cleaned, new coolant temp sensor, new plugs, distributor cap and rotor. Problem was still not solved, ran out of ideas

instead of throwing parts at the car...why not invest in a consult port link for $80 and plug into your car with a laptop... that plug is under your dash for a reason, just saying.

Check the adjustment for the throttle stop, and the adjustment for the throttle cable itself.

Just because you cleaned and replaced the gasket on the IACV doesn't mean it isn't bad. Buy a full KA intake manifold from someone for 20 bucks and take the iacv off.

You must have missed the stuff past the adjusting the idle part. Set your timing and look for vacuum leaks, betting that is what you have.

hooked up a vaccum gauge and the results were 18 hg so it came back normal, but I have not yet checked timing

or just buy the IACV brand new...

Well here's a quick fix, how about you check the resistance on you IACV first. Find one of the FSMs online which are free, get a voltmeter and measure the resistance. If the resistance is out of spec, then replace with either a used or new one. Although if you do end up buying used, check the resistance first to make sure its good. Then install.

I dont even know what I just seen. Fabs bracket to pinch line. Cant properly check leaks. Im -22 on my vac gauge at idle

You should get a turbonetics manual boost controller inline with the IACV to adjust your idle lmao

but seriously, there's a way to properly adjust the idle. Unplug the plugs near the TB there should be two. Start the car and let the idle stablelize after the engine is warmed up. Turn the adjustment screw on the IACV-this should be near the back of the intake manifold. Plug in the plugs and it should be lower.

He has already gone through my walk through and it did not help him. He has issues elsewhere.
