View Full Version : Plagued with bad luck...
Well.. I don't know where to start... Everything is going SO wrong with my 240sx for 2004. I am totally discouraged... I even feel like selling my car... Wished I hadn't spent so much money on it...
In march, I had to replace both brake and clutch master cylinders...
In may, had to replace exhaust, 2 balls joints and a sway bar endlink
In june, my 4 AGX (15 000km use) are blown, need to be replaced.
And today, I learned that somehow, my fidanza flywheel loosened, broke some flywheel bolts, scrapped my ACT clutch...
So now, My Fidanza flywheel and ACT clutch are good for the dumpster: 14 000 km use...
I really am discouraged, I can't afford a new clutch and flywheel...

I have a nice Nismo chromoly flywheel, that I bought for my sr, but changed the sr for a rb26. Maybe you might be interested.

Sorry to hear about it man, I thought it was just me. Mine isn't quite as long of a list. Picked up my S13 a few years ago pretty cheap, now I know why. Auto tranny doesn't shift correctly, which recently, under hard acceleration (stupid move on my part :bash: ) caused the engine to over-rev and now I have a death rattle. Sounds like intake valve on #1 or #2 cylinder. This comes after totaling my last car, and already getting into 2 accidents with this one. :Owned: Hope your luck improves, but if you do decide to get rid of your car, can I have your head lights, LOL.
Good Luck Again!!
TheSnail... The other guy still didn't pay... and his deadline expired... got any specs on that flywheel? I'm very interested....

I know it retails for 800 in australian $ which is $600. The only pages (3) I have the found to match the flywheel's Serial # were 2 in Japaneese and one in australia.

If I remember correctly, it was 7 kg , I will weigh it personally though.
hmmm used or new? does it need to be resurfaced?
TheSnail

Used very little, Does not need to be resurfaced.
24,000 cents shipped.
Wow... it's a nice piece of equipment... Where did you get that?
So that would make the deal at:
flywheel + 180$
for
exhaust
(shipped both sides?)

wouldn't have any luck on a ACT street disk clutch kit right? Or Spec Stage 1-2?

Got it straight from Japan. The guy that I got it from, orderd a Toda fly wheel while his sr was being shipped from Japan. Once it arrived and he went to change the clutch and flywheel he saw it already equiped with a nismo flywheel.
Well... you got something I want and I got something you want...
how does 180$ + flywheel sound for my exhaust... Ready to ship tomorrow if you ship on your side. :)
(unfortunately, I can only refund a 200$ payment so you would still have to send me another 40$)

don't get discouraged... sometimes my car pisses me off too. it's almost like as soon as you fix one problem another one pops up. slowly but surely it's coming together. just gotta fix a few more things and i can finally hit the track... leaky oil owns me. hoping to make the last few HPDE at the end of summer into fall.
for clutch the spec group buy is still going i think. $255 for a spect stage 1. otherwise if ur really strapped for cash get clutch, pressure plate, pilot and t/o bearing from everythingnissan.com - i priced it out to $130ish before s/h.
seems like a really nice flywheel btw. anyway, good luck!
I believe I'll go on the spec group buy... not sure though...

Okay let me rwrite this all down:
My side
flywheel(240$) + 180$ = 420$ Shipping(free)
Your side
Exaust = 420$ Shipping(free)
I gave you 340$ and ow you 80$ for the exhaust.
You get the 80 knbocked off of the 240$ making you ow me 160
Is that right?
I would have it ready to be shipped by tommarow.
I need to go pick it up, its at my friends house since he bought it from me for 300, but at the time only payed me 160 downpayment the he sold his car two weeks later, so all my extra money would be paying off his down payment. He lives a good 45min away but I can go tonight and pick it up. Then I can take pictures and send them to you tonight, the flywheel looks 10x better then in theis pictures. I can also weigh it for you if you want.
that would be great..
sending you the money back! :D
Done... Send me your shipping addres by email so I can dispatch the exhaust tomorrow. :D

HaLo you still there? I just got back with the stuff. It looks like you get a clutch disk in exelent condition aswell. I forgot I gave it to the guy. My email is still not working. What is the way you guys post pictures. That thing that you can make an album.

Nevermind, My email is working now. HaLo Im sending the pictures to you.
clutch disk? Stock I guess right?
So what's the weight anyways? 7kg or 7 lbs...? My fidanza weighed 9.5 lbs.
TheSnail
06-16-2004, 11:00 PM
The guy said it weighed like his 10.5lbs toda. I will check. The stock disk I found to be Okay, not exellent like I said before.
meh... I'm thinking on jumping on the SPEC group buy...

Hey HaLo , did you check your email for the Pictures?
Yes!!! Very nice!! Now ship that piece of gold... and weight it too! ;)
TheSnail
06-17-2004, 12:26 AM
I found one source on google saying it is 6.2kg which is equal to 13.64lbs. So it's 4 pounds heavier, but this is chromoly so it will last as long if not longer then a stock flywheel, Superior to everyother flywheel metal there is, and uncomparable to Aluminium. I will put it on the digital scale tommarow, after my class. I will send you an email on the weight around 3pm. I will wait for your responce untill 4pm before I go ship it. Do I ship it to the address that came with your paypal payment?
no need to wait to ship it... just do... I'm okay with it. :)

dont get to discouraged, you kyb's blew becasue you probably had the car to low, not suppose to be used with cars, lowered more than an inch and a half, but the flywheel stuff thats scary, come right up and chop some legs off!!!! Hope you get her back together b4 your next event,
good luck
brian
I am installing the original clutch and flywheel for my next event... But I am trying to source another clutch now..
Apparently, the flywheel wasn't torque properly... It got loose, bolts broke, and surface contact warped.
The clutch simply is cooked. Disk is done. Don't know why, but my garage says it was slipping under load, maybe not a lot, but it was. ACT + Street Disk seems it can't hold on to 250whp daily driven. AND the worse part, the bolts on the pressure plate were loosing too... The clutch was almost unbolted from the flywheel...
Now I need opinions... Is the clutch that bad? Improper installation on that one too?
Should I go with Spec stage 2 or 3 now?

I shipped the flywheel.
I got the 5-7day shipping, and I got it insured just in case
I was so busy flywheel bolts hunting today that I could not ship the exhaust... WILL do tomorrow...
(it's packed and ready to go)
Got the tracking number?
TheSnail
06-17-2004, 04:48 PM
I asked for tracking, but they said international shipping they could not provide one. So to be on the safe side I got insurence. I had to fill out a customes forum aswell. I used USPS for shipping. I do have an insurence # maybe you can use it to track an item.
( VE 036 813 528 US )
I have a bunch of other #'s on the customs sheet, if you know which ones to use I will provide them to you.
oh! It's okay!! thought you shipped it through a parcel service... :) It's all okay then! I will ship over UPS the Exhaust. I dunno the time-frame yet. I'll see what I can afford. :)

Hey, whats your opinion on the Digi-torque? Is it safe to trust the electronics of instead of it instead of a mechanical unit? I have a normal Craftsman 10-90, but was wondering if I should switch to the 5-90 digi-torque?

digi-torque?...how much is that thing and where can you get it?
TheSnail

Check E-bay, Sears carrys them but that shits $$$
It's soposed to be the most acurate torque wrench availible and the easyest to use, but I hear many shop owners dont get them because once you drop it, it screws it all up, and all the electronic sensors become off. So if you want one, dont buy one used, and dont drop it.

LOL...you guys need to find PMs. :D
damn, Halo, that is some scary shit with your clutch/flywheel. Hope everything works out for the best, and good luck.

I agree... And I should have done it myself... but hey, now that garage doesn't want to claim responsability for the install and wants a second opinion...
they say it would've broken earlier... I ran 15 000km with that setup...

Well if the pressure plate was coming off then that would be why the ACT was slipping. I've only heard good things about ACT's so I'm just being skeptical. Check the bolts to see if they used loctite. If they want a second opinion then by all means get one from a friend. Seriously though. If you can get one and make them take care of the cost.

what is loctite? i thought it would be good enough if you just torqued it down to spec with a torque wrench. is this what ur talking about?

You are SO right....
I don't believe they used a torque wrench and I'm positive they did not use any loctite...
Too bad the installer doesn't want to claim responsability.. :(
let's add the alternator to the random things failing...
