Hello, a friend of mine is having a problem with starting up his 240, we changed the starter but we still have to push start it. So if it's not the starter, and I assume it's not the alternator because the car is ABLE to be push started and all the lights work, what can it be?
- when we turn the ignition, we hear clicking sounds from a locations I cannot specify.
Thank you.

Yeah the car can start fine if push started. Lights work and everything. But the car just whont start normaly, even after replacing the started.

well you can push start a car with a weak battery too though, and lights will often work with just a weak battery, but its not enough for the starter. i definately think you guys should get the battery tested. let me know how it turns out.

I had the exact smae thing happen to me, but it was the starter. If not, check the cable to the starter and clutch interlock relay. Also, make sure the switch on the clutch pedal is being pressed in by the clutch pedal.

you may have gotten a bad starter try tapping the side of the starter with a hammer, worked for me

It's the battery. The clicking is the starter solenoid. It's not getting enough power to push over and spin the flywheel. Pull your battery and get it checked at autozone. I promise you that you will thank me when this is all over. This shit just happened to me about a couple weeks ago so I'm pretty positive on this one.

I actualy haveing a simular problem with the rb20 car. The car wont start by the key. I have to jump start the starter, not the car. It cranks fine when I run the 12v straight to the starter, but if I try to start it by key it just makes a click, not clicks(dead battery) but just a single click. I have checked the alt fuse, clutch button, and its not the battery and I have more grounds then 12 cars put together. Does anyone have any Idea's?
Thanks, Snail

I had a similar problem when I installed my sr20. Complete with the one click when I turned the key. Turns out I had the starter power wire bolted to the engine block instead of the positive terminal on the battery cause I mistook it for a grounding wire. As soon as I hooked it up right it started up fine. this prolly won't help anyone but I thought I'd throw in my 2 cents.

I think you just solved the problem. Thats what I thought but when I ask my friend specificly if he hooked it up right, he just looked at me like I shouldnt even ask him that. That dumb son of a bench ! I will check that tomarrow, but I think thats it.
Thanks Danny.
