Check ECU for codes? Sounds like it could be a CLT sensor problem.

Replace your plugs and check timing

In that case, it could have been when the minimum TPS voltage was reset, the ECU was able to determine the throttle was closed.

What does "replaced timings" I think what the responder to the post meant was to check your timing again with a timing light. I would also just go ahead and replace the water temp sensor. They tend to go like crap all the time anyways...especially on 20+ yr old motors.

It's not even plugged in?
Are you telling us the engine runs better with it unplugged?
Something is majorly off if your not able to drive with the tps.
Start with that issue the cold start problems can be a result.

Dude plug your tps in and get that working properly. Do your timing again. Their also a "start signal " wire off the ecu you could run a push button switch to and you can start the car that way. It gives the ecu a cold start map.

The two things I have seen cause this most often are:
1. start signal wire (orange) off the ECU not connected
2. ECU is bad.
