topped out!

My car tops out at about 118mph. Is this right for a blacktop motor and five speed tranny??

Thats what I was thinking, but I wasnt sure if that was going to take care of the problem.

I dont have a problem getting too that, it gets there quick, rev limiter is set about 7100rpms.

yes, that is correct for an SR. most all cars over there are set at that. I know my friend who put a jdm fd motor in his fc found that out real quick too. 118's the magic #!

I just finished my SR swap. I got an s13 blacktop with an E5 ecu. Yesterday, I got on it and buried it well past where I think 120 is, and it was still going. I didn't do anything to cut this speed limiter, so someone before me must have done something, what could it be?

cut the yellow w green wire by the ECU. that'll take care of the speed limiter. if your SR equiped you probably dont have cruise control hooked up anyway so it wont effect anything. (KA guys if you do this you'll lose CC)

Luke you might have a flashed ECU. Or whoever did your wiring went ahead and cut the wire i mentioned.

I've got ahatch with a red top and it went well past 118. I got a digital speedo from a coupes and got it up to 145mph, before my man-gina got scared.

only thing scary about 140+ mph (clocked on MDM100 in lead car) is digging your cellphone out of your pocket in traffic. and trusting the guy in front of you to lead

Yeah 140 is nuts... Dont change lanes to fast on a windy brigde... My bro's RT T/T almost ate the wall at 140.


My top speed was 114 or 115... The ticket sez 114 on it when I got clocked. but with the power cut right there I could have lost 1 mph

I hit 160 + in my 240 on the freeway in my old set up. I was racing a bike and pulled on him after 140. He got scared when he thought I was behind him and he looked over and I was right there nosing him out. He start slaping the tank at 160 I could see it in the corner of my eye pretty scary for that guy.
