i believe the 5 zigen is for NA power cuz i think the one for the 240sx is smaller than the ones for silvia
but they do make them for turbos, i think they make it for the SR20DET...

dont quote me but its 3" i think. its REALLY loud. my gf's neighbor has an svt 00 mustang and when i come over, she cant tell the difference in sound between our cars. its not exact, but there's a v8-like sound.

Since when?...last time I checked, the N1 was about $100 cheaper than the Fireball.

I read on someone's dyno chart that the N1 and the Fireball makes about 8 more HPs than the HKS Hiper. Any comments on this?
vancouvers14
10-19-2001, 12:49 AM
i thought that the n1 was about 550. the 5zigen is 500

me personally..i think as long as it's 3" (this is for turbo cars obviously) that as long as its mandrel bent straight through name brand means jack shit as far as performance goes...but on the note about the 8 more hp...8 is a lot...could be a lot of factors tho..diff dyno..dif temp...so on...

The dual might be that much...I paid $399+s/h for my single.
And I think the N1 and Fireball are a little better than average b/c they're straighter than average. My N1 has two very slight bends in the piping and that's it.
And about the 5Zigen/HKS...same dyno and only about a 5 degree temp difference.

N1 is $400 and fireball is usually over $500

the dual n1 is $530 on rollhard including shipping. nebody happen to know the hp gain on the dual n1?
LanceS13
10-19-2001, 10:10 AM
Supposed to yield the same hp with the dual giving a little more torque. I really don't see how a dual can increase torque at all on a 4cyl...and even if torque does improve, it's probably not enough to justify an additional $130.

i paid 600 including install. and got the cat hollowed out. I don't know what the hp gain is but all i can say is i am impressed. i can't believe it's the same car. it pulls hard all the way to redline, i am very impressed.

That's the one I've got. It's really good and it cost about 700 installed. Fortunately, it was a birthday gift (thank you, Mike!)

i just wanna get the n1 dual b/c it keeps the same peak hp as the n1 n still keeps the mid-range torque, n i have grown to like the dual tips, plus not many ppl have them.

on the dual tip note I just wanted to say the best looking one was from a japanese company called i think sheepdog or something to that nature...they called it the dual shot gun...looked pretty intense

Blankflip said it all for me, Im going N1 dual for the same reason he is. Ive almost clickied that "ADD ONE" button several times this week, Ive got the money but I really should throw it towards a credit card and wait another month but #### its hard. BTW I emailed Rollhard and got a response on the actual price on the N1 Dual, its $467 + shipping comes to a total of $520, that is for zilvia/240sx.org members.
Nice review of the 5Zigen <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
Its sounds like its a great exhaust system and Im glad you are happy. I hope I am as happy when I get my dual.
cheers
Hope you guys don't mind me reviving this thread.
For my catback exhaust, I'd either go with Apex'i N1 Dual with silencer or the 5Zigen Fireball. My car's NA so probably Fireball's better.
Anyone know which one's quieter? And where can I find the 5Zigen Fireball online other than Auto Imaging?

I like the look of this one:

http://store3.yimg.com/I/jspec_1658_886975
It is the Greddy DD with 3" piping
Does $455 + $45 S&H sound like a good deal for a 5Zigen Fireball catback?

Ok, now somewhere in this thread someone said they have a hollowed out cat. What kind of improvement can you see from doing this, and doesn't gutting your cat kill your ablity to pass somg?

hey FASTNISSAN, if you like dual tips, you should get the dual n1's. i had them but #### they were loud.

i have the hollowed cat. and i don't have smog issues (mainly because they don't have smog laws here). i cannot tell you before and after because the exhaust and cat were done at the same time. i know i have much better top end torque (again i don't know how much the cat is helping with this). i used to be close to 4k rpms at 80mph, now after the install i am barely above 3.25k rpm at 80mph. (this is in 5th gear). the car pulls hard and sounds great. the exhaust is getting louder but nothing like i have heard from some civics running around. i do know for turbo applications it is best to either remove the cat (federal offense) or get a racing one. i figured i'd just take care of the cat now, (besides the shop offered to do it).

I heard that the Apex'i N1 Dual sounds the best of all the exhausts. I was wondering if anyone had a sound sample so I could judge for myself. I don't want an exhaust that sounds too loud and abnoxious like those ricer civics <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> I don't want an exhaust that makes those high pitched farting sounds <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

I like HKS better as well, only thing different on mine is the dual 3" tips instead of the huge can. I always loved the dual tip look, but the Apexi's dual N-1's are kinda too loud for my tastes, I hear they don't have a presilencer either.

So what other exhausts have dual tips
Heh... I post again.
Anyone know where I can get 5Zigen Fireball exhaust system other than at Auto Imaging? And is $500 a good price for that exhaust (shipping included)? Anyone know if the Fireball is really loud at low RPMs (I don't prefer that)? How does it compare to the N1 Dual with silencer? Thanks for any answers that you people may be able to give.

the 5zigen is not that loud at idle, it does have a deep rumble to it. my friend has a civic with exhaust (not sure which) and if both cars are in my drive way idleing i can't even hear mine.

at idle, its quiet, but when you're at speed, it sounds like the world is gonna end....
I think I'll be getting the 5Zigen Fireball at a local shop soon. Just so I don't sound too stupid when I go order it... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'> how do you pronounce "5Zigen"? Is it like... five ZIE-gen or five ZIG-gen? (Long "i" or short "i"?) Or something else?

you pronounce it as GO-ZIEgen... as the japanese people do.

Haha thanks man. So I went to the shop today to ask about the "Go-Zigen" Fireball exhaust. Store clerk goes "What? ... Oh, Five-Zigen?" Ehhehheh. Oh well.

ok, how do u pronounce the "zigen" part, now i'm a little confused. what word does it rhyme with or something like that.
"Zi" like lie.
"gen" like in Kragen.
At least that's how the store clerk said it to me. My friend told me to call up 5Zigen and just hear them say "5Zigen Performance" when they pick up. (Then hang up.) <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

It rhymes with "Simon" from what I heard. So I always pronounced it "Zai-Gen".
