Maybe it's the ricer in me but I love cars spitting fire. I'm wondering what are the factors that go into creating backfires. I know that valve overlap creates backfires, hot turbo's and straight through exhausts help, but I would love more information about what creates backfires and which engines they happen most in. What effect does timing and fuel ratios have on an engine spitting fire? Does having a cat in the exhaust reduce backfires? Resonators? Also videos are welcomed.

add fuel injector and a spark plug in the exhaust. tee into the fuel line and send one line to the fuel injector and the other into the fuel rail. connect #4 injector power wires to the new exhaust injector. cut and splice the #4 spark plug wire, and send an additional wire down to the new exhaust spark plug. the exhaust will backfire every 4th rotation. it will look totally F&TF (all the time! EVEN AT IDLE!!!).

I think the best setup that seems to throw some flames is a fully straight pipe, not resonators, cats, mufflers etc.
Personally i'm not very fond of cars just sitting and revving their engines constantly hitting the limiter over and over.
I like it when you see a car just zooming by the camera car and letting off after they pass and seeing a nice flame just ploom out the back.

Bee R limiters = flamethrower. cuts ignition not fuel. which means theres a bunch of extra fuel needed to be burnt off. which means flames lol

I've got a ka24de with header and mostly straight 3" exhaust (one resonator). I've been told when I shift in higher rpms, it'll pop a flame in lower gears.
