Sorry to hijack your post yenpit but this question always bugged me. Can you paint carbon fiber body parts? I'm pretty sure you can but I want to be sure. And also how much wieght do's it cut off (give me a guesstimate)???

absolutely! most dont cuz most purchase for the CF look. if ur gonna paint id prob consider the FG hood ie PDM's or Erebuni's cuz the weight diff is prob only a few pounds. FG is lots $cheaper! dont know what stock hood weighs, CF typically 15+lbs, FG prob 20+...??? CF less pron to crack even in accident, FG will crack.

My boyfriend just told me this tonight, Non Fujita has a painted carbon fiber hood on his '97 240.
Someone dented my hood and there is a huge gap by the passenger's side headlight now. I'm not happy.

most aftermarket carbon fiber hoods arent the real high quality carbon fiber.. so it does crack , same with fiber glass.. only fiber glass is very britle. it will crack for sure.. if you just want the CF look.. then i guess go for it.. but if you want to get it because of the weight reduction.. i think there are other ways to save the extra weight with out spending so much money on a hood.. you can always modify a stock hood.. like cut apart the metal skeleton underneath, and make a few vents to cool the engine bay.
