Motor ran before I pulled it apart, as I purchased it already built I was going to go ahead and have the motor checked out by my machine shop while the car was down for winter. Here's what I found when I popped it open:

Honestly that damage is not even that bad. If it wasn't for having rod knock I would have cleaned it up and thrown on a cosworth gasket and arp's and just beat the shit out of it. After re tuning of course.

If there is rod knock, then the eagle rods will be junk...

When did I ever say rod knock? I said the pistons were slightly damaged due to knock, one could assume I was talking about pre ignition knock. Again, the motor did not have rod knock. Jesus....

Not a previous owner as I bought the car from the guy who build the car, just someone who is assuming knock means rod knock and not preignition knock.

Bump for a legit seller and cool dude. I personally saw this motor running when we picked up the car. It honestly ran amazing. I never would of guessed it had any issues

Wow. Hobbs, you actually bought the Car this engine came in from underneath me as I had a wedding that weekend. Had truck/trailer all lined up too.

Gentlemen had no idea it had this issue as he said he would drive it, it would overheat, then he would pull over and it could be fine. Thought it was a thermostat but had not idea the issues ran this deep..........

Plans for the vehicle and did you keep your Red S13 (Damion's?)?

Kurt is a good guy and he gave me a great price on the car once the overheating issue popped up so I don't think he was trying to hide anything from me and I knew going into the deal the motor had issues, just assumed it was because the car was low on coolant. Only really knew what was up once I started to take the thing apart. The overheating was caused by the bad headgasket which was toasted due to the detonation, the tune seemed to be pretty rich so it may have been bad gas. He didn't mention to me that someone else was trying to pick up the car when I drove out to check it out. Sorry!

I sold the red hatch about 3 months ago, went back over to nocal.

Ohhh, I wasn't insinuating Kurt was a bad guy.........Just that you beat me to the punch by only a day or two :). Sorry if my post seemed defamatory towards Kurt! He was one of the much more well put together individuals that I have met recently!
