View Full Version : I Need Opinions
Well, the paint on my 90 is definately starting to fade. it hasnt cracked yet, but there is no luster left in it. lol. Its red now and i kinda wanna change the color. but if i change the color do i have to change all the insurance/registration crap? i'm not gonna spend like 3 g's for a custom paint job or anything, i just want something that'll look nice. Your opinions are greatly appreciated. thanks

when it comes to paint you get what you pay for. for a decent paint job be prepared to spend 1000+, be wary of sub 1000$ jobs.

If you change the color of your car it will cost more then keeping it the same color. So you might want to think of what color you want.

no it's NOT time for macco....and #### no 24 hours paint....they do crappy jobs...cheap paint the cracks/fade and they dont do a good prepping job (sanding priming)

I would suggest getting something nice and simple like black or silver. Even red is nice. I would definitely prefer to have a black car (matter of opinion). And yes, be prepared to spend some 1500 to change everything and to have them fix the body (if there are any imperfections).

This is what I've heard, but I've never tried this:
The reason Maaco paint jobs don't hold up is only due to the crappy prep work. You can save a ton of money by prepping it yourself and having them do the paint. Prep work isnt very hard, just mostly sanding. Just takes some time.
They wont do very many coats and there will be some overspray, but considering the cost, its not bad at all. Something to think about.

Yeah, I agree w/ everyone else's price estimates. I paid $1800 for mine and it had minor bodywork. I used to drive an Audi so I picked Santorin Blue for the color. Not bad at all. Darker than the IS300 blue with a tinge of vibrancy. Black, Grey and Dark Blue would be my favorite colors.

I think it cost around $1800 because they have to sand your car down. If you did it yourself I think it would be alot cheaper. Am I right or wrong?
so you can get a nice paintjob with how many (#) numbers of clearcoats? for 1800 bucks <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> that ain't to shabby,, does that include painting the engine bay, trunk, and door sills and all that ? Also, how much would skyline blue be?.. would rare colors cost more?.. hows that work?
So based on what you guys are saying, there's no way that this place http://www.earlscheib.com/f-services.htm would do a good paint job? Even with a 6-year warranty?
