Hi guys-

I am experiencing a problem with my sr20. It seems fine on start up, idles fine and drives fine until it starts getting close to 0psi boost. As it gets close to boosting the car cuts out (usually around 2-3k rpm). It bogs, almost throws you forward in your seat, then the car seems to figure it out hit boost and pull hard all of the way to redline.

at first the PO thought it was fuel I think so he rewired the fuel pump and added a relay. I made sure all of the couplers were tight and everything was where it is supposed to be. I am now thinking either MAF or TPS?

The maf seems clean, but I will switch that out next. Just wanted to see if anyone has had this problem and how they fixed it.

Everyone in my other group keeps telling me to tune it. Its just a stock sr with a t28 at stock boost with stock injectors.

Thanks.

1. check ecu for fault codes
2. check timing with timing light
3. boost leaks
4. spark plugs (BKR6E gapped ~.028")

If that doesn't solve it, try bypassing the knock sensor with a 1Mohm resistor. If it clears up the hesitation, then replace your knock sensor and/or inspect the knock sensor subharness.

I had the exact same issue, and it was from an aftermarket knock sensor I installed. Make sure it says Unisia Jecs on it
