i don't know if a grounding kit helps at all , i think putting a big cable from the engine to the frame/body ground can't hurt .its good in case the std grounds break .

i bought a battery ground cable and cut off the battery connector and put on a round connector on the cut off end , then bolted it from the engine to the body .

electrons flow from one side of the battery to the other.

That said, they flow through "things". They find places to go.

Simply strapping wires all over the place is not a good idea. Yes it provides alternative paths but you ideally want to control those paths, not just give the electrons multiple choices. Electrons flowing through the starter for instance, during a hard cold start, you dont want them to find a path through your ECU or delicate electronics. You also want them to stay out of your cooling system because it will cause corrosion of the aluminum surfaces there.

The question you are asking is a physics question, for in depth answers see the chapters regarding circuits. The factory grounds work for most people in most situations. The major source for the engine is the intake manifold->battery tray->battery. There is also a strap from the coil pack harness to the back of the head that should be in place. The starter grounds through the engine block->intake->battery.

If you were to, say, add an additional strap from the engine block to the engine harness in an inappropriate place, for instance, it could cause problems with your ECU or even ruin your ECU if the ground strap on the intake manifold came loose, for example.

The only thing I did was to replace the oem or existing grounding cables with a bigger guage to match the positive cables.

Nissan engineers already made good ground points to avoid shorting.
