I've had a 93 240sx se for about a year now.
One day I was driving to work and I noticed a slight knock in the motor, it had a rough idle at stoplights. I parked it right away, I didn't want to do any more damage, Its been sitting for a while now. At cold starts it knocks for maybe 2 seconds then stops and idles just fine. I fixed the timing chain rattle problem when I first bought it so that shouldn't be the issue. A friend of mine told me it may be a weak oil pump and not a bad rod. I can try to put a video of a cold start up on here later today.
I'm hoping its an easy fix and not a Rod problem :( I miss my car. Has anyone had a problem like this before? Its a bone stock KA24DE.

This is the sound of the rod knock I had. Really kicked in above 2500 rpm. Hopefully your sound is completely different.

I hate to say it, but I think its rod knock. my 240 had the same problem, it started off as a little knock at first, then it got to the point of being very loud at around 3k, and it would shake and stall every time I stepped on the clutch. you might have to pull the motor and replace it or rebuild it (that's what im in the process of doing right now). if you can jack your car up and take the oil pan off, if it looks like a little kid put a whole bunch of glitter in it, then its your rod bearings.

When you first start a KA from 95~ with 130,000+ miles they tend to slap around for a moment or two (its the chain or related to the tensioner/oil pump flow) then it goes away. That sounds like what you have there. If the knock never shows up while you drive or any other time except during that first, cold start, then I wouldnt worry about it. You can change the timing equipment etc... but I would just ignore it and drive it, source a new engine or next engine swap and save your money from going into that one (I would never rebuild or try to boost a KA engine... well maybe a completely stock rebuild if I could do it for < $500 and needed reliable transportation for the next 10+ years.)
