hi all
here is a problem i got on my sr20det from the very first day it arrived from Japan. there is some strange noise you can see in the video, but when removing the first coil plug, the sound goes away. Is it a rod knock or could it be anything else? tomorrow i am going to connect oil press gauge, so if it is a bearing problem what figures should i see there?
also needed torque figures for all the bolts on the engine ))) is any repair manual availabele through the net?
here is the actual video:

More than likely when u disconnect the spark there's something wrong with that cylinder (bottom end) and if there's no change (top end) take your valve cover off and see if your timing chain is hitting on it. My money is on bottom end, good luck.

Sounds like rod knock to me too. Is the oil pan all banged up?

That is definitely rod knock...its repairable, new oil pump and bearings can save it.

I would try and get a warranty from the engine dealer.

If the sound goes away when you remove spark from that cylinder how can it be rod knock?

Thats Rod Knock Or Wrist Pin Slap. For Sure one of those two. The more you run it the worse off it will become.
