Tho this is my first s chassis build I have done my research over the past year while my s13 wait patiently for a heart. I have weighed all my options and backed down from the Vh45 swap and decided to start my journey from the "roots" .
With the Ca18det being the most proper choice for me. I have searched numerous site that sell JDM engines swaps but I have only done shallow google searches. If a couple fellas don't mind could some of you chime in a few websites you may have dealt with personally or know if through some friends, it is difficult to find a site that may carry this motor. I m not going to day what sites I have viewed just so I see all options. That's abt it! Thanks !

Ive used JDMtiger for my SR shipped to arizona...
But why is a 240 noob going for a CA motor.. Not gonna have as much support along your "journey" with such an outdated engine

Uh... Really...... A year of research and you came up with CA18 as your choice??? Do yourself a favor and buy a red or blacktop S13 SR20DET. Its pretty "bolt in" and super straight forward. And only a few Hundred as in two or three more than a CA18.

Does anyone else picture the commercial with the kindergarteners being asked which is better MORE or less, when they see someone WANTING a CA18 ?
SR: MORE: power, aftermarket support, displacement, weight loss
CA LESS: power, aftermarket support, displacement, weight loss
which is better, MORE ? or LESS ?

Ok. Not too far. DorkiDori doesnt allow too much Flamethrowing.
Basically DONT BUY A CA18, THEYRE PAPERWEIGHTS THAT SHOULD ALL BE MELTED DOWN AND RECYCLED. PERIOD. I DONT BELIEVE ANYONE IS PRO-CA18.

uh, please dont go around saying what ill allow and wont allow. ive already got enough members annoyed with me.
what he is stating is the truth and the SR vs CA debate has been going just as long as the SR vs KA debate (if not longer). the CA18 is less displacement, less aftermarket (anywhere but the UK) and less power. Theyre neat little engines and share a lot of the same design fundamentals as the RB series, but the SR was engineered to surpass the CA in every way, shape and form.

Sorry man. Im just stating what U already did for people not looking back thru the thread. I support the NON Bashing Threads.
As he says^^^ Nissan spent some good time and $$$ engineering the SR20DET for 13 years I Believe. 1989 - 2002.

He's probably thinking that he'll be different and get mad respect cool points.
He is wrong. If you're gonna go with a CA18 you might as well spend the money on cocaine or meth. You'll have a better time

Look at people saying the CA is outdated as if the SR20 is anything special. The only difference is the eBay aftermarket support of SRs keeping them alive.

CA's in the uk are dirt cheap if you can find them. they tend to blow up so... maybe an SR isnt such a bad idea?

this is actually true. Ebay is a good place to order swaps from. I have ordered 4 within the last 3 years and all are amazing and came in great condition and had no damaged or problems.
good luck broseph

Considering CA18dets were only in production in japan for 2 yrs and most people with CAs have chucked them out for SRs, good luck finding one. In the 4 yrs i've lived there, I've only seen 2 CAs.

CAs were in use until 94 over in the UK, but there arent a lot of people that import them from there.
