Hi, I am running an sr20det redtop with a tdo5 t18 turbo.

Issue: There is coolant leaking out of the side of my turbo; it looks like a hole where a hose or plug goes. Right above it is a line as well and that is not leaking/still perfectly intact. I cant find the trace of any hose or plug. If someone can please tell me what the hole is for and whether I lost a hose somehow, or I need a plug. What size the part I need is, where the hose connects to and where I can find it would be a huge plus as well!

It is just now getting below freezing everyday. Guy before me ran water in the car so maybe this could have something to do with the cause of my issue.

The idle is now fluctuating as soon as this happened 1k-2k and steam comes out as well, and obviously, car overheats. I posted an attachment, the hole is in the middle of the turbo and is located below the black hardline going into the turbo.

THANK YOU

**update** Ater looking at turbo, four lines are attached to the turbo, which is making me think it is a plug, maybe a freezer plug. Water return and feed-line seem to both be there and two oil lines look to be attached. Any ideas? I pour coolant in and it literally goes right out of the hole that's in the pic.

Id search for a plug, as long as the coolant has a feed and return, the extra hole isnt neccesary

Cool thanks for the response! I am 99% sure it is a plug where do I find this plug or the size plug I need? Or would tapping into the hole making a new threaded hole and using a threaded plug be best? Right now the hole is not threaded so it looks like something needs to be pressed into it. Ill check local part store.

if that is a freeze plug on the turbo. then a brass plug would have to be pressed in. If its not threaded you could tap it and get a threaded plug. I would highly recommend some hi temp thread sealant so it doesnt develop future leaks

Good call. Part store did not have a freeze plug small enough. I think I am just going to tap into it and make a threaded hole. Will update once completed.... What's the best way to remove the turbo? I disconnected where the headers attach to the block, but disconnecting the bolts that are attached to the turbo and header look like a PITA. I might just remove the two bolts that attach the down pipe to the rest of the exhaust and pull the whole thing out.

Happens on delivery trucks sometimes, often times you can call a local rebuilder and they will have the plugs.

Got an oil drain plug from advance auto parts.... Very skeptical on whether or not it will hold up. It has been on for a week and it seems to be holding up!:aw:

^^It will hold up fine so long as it's steel, properly threaded and sealed.
