The gold link on my upper timing chain does not line up with the mark on my sprocket. And the chain doesn't have any other differnt colored links. But I watched the you tube of upper timing explained and he said there should be 14 pins across the top and on the exhaust side, there is. Can anyone confirm that the color doesn't matter and the 14 pins on top and exhaust are correct. Motor is at tdchttp://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx138/tshales/428F634C-D64D-42F8-9356-5EE447F2894B_zpsleq0yr9x.png

Did you ever have it apart?

It truthfully looks like you need to move the cams over one more 'spot'....as in keep them lined up with their white marks, but make that gold link line up with the center pulley

I've never taken this motor apart. I knew the kid I bought it off of. It ran when I last saw it but I'm not sure if he tried changing the timing chain between the time I saw it and bought it. I'm gonna take another look at the fsm once I get to work. The chain and tensioner are fine I'm doing the hg so I marked everything. So I'm either gonna buy a new kit with the marks or figure it out. I just don't wanna put it back together with out knowing for sure.
