my s14 inner tie rods are too long on my s13 and i want to cut them since its making a very loose feel since i installed them the joint bottoms out on full lock .. i searched everywhere on how much exactly do i need to cut for the right fitment i dont have the original s13 tie rods i just read some where that they cut 3/4" of the inner part can anyone confirm this and if you did the same my rack is centered i have stock suspension thknaks for the help

I thought S13/S14 inners are the same length & the outers are different between the two(?)

BTW this is engine tech ;)

no s14 are longer just the part that goes in the rack is the same thread but the outer part is different thread .. and there isnt a suspension tech

Okay...

There is a suspension tech- It's called S-CHASSIS lol!

But seriously... Hope you get it worked out... and hope someone who knows something about tie rods chimes in & helps ya.

Don't go cutting on something like that, it might be fine or it could weaken them. Is your life worth the money you saved not buying the proper outers?

:hahano:

He's not the one who needs to do his homework dude... What he meant is that your OUTERS are obviously too long (maybe S14 outers, not S13- S13 inners are shorter)...

Instead of possibly weakening the tie rods by cutting the inners, just get the correct-length outers... and maybe work on your reading comprehension skills while you're at it ;)

I know from experience that S13, S14, and Z32 inner tie rod ends are all different in size.

S13 and S14 tie rod outers are the same, in length, just larger diameter

The solution is getting the correct (non cut) inner tie rod end. Wth that said, I don't think you'll get enough 'adjustment' while keeping enough threads to work.

My s14 outers had more threaded area to them when I swapped them onto my S13. Maybe its just Teins kit, though that's doubtful because you can change to OEM inners or outers depending on what section of the tie rods you are installing. Regardless my inners match my outers and I am having no problems which are both S14s.
