I have a tick on my sohc that comes and goes. Its pissing me off when i speed up. Ike.if.it heats up and.it ticks. my fan doesnt spin easily by hand. i have to put a little force to spin. before i would flick it a little and itll spin . idkk if thats the cause of tick. i read online also that the water pump can also cause the fan to go out. idkk.if thats true.i also noticed tick like a month after i installed new headers and new 3"exhaust.. anyone can help me out? thanks. :axe::eek3d:

tick, new exhaust, it sounds like an exhaust leak. but there's not enough info for anyone to tell

a stethoscope would be your best bet to finding the tick

could be a valve tick due to carbon build up and heat. i just tore apart a ka24e head and the exhaust seats were coated. it had no compression in a cylinder and i forgot to check where it was coming from but i believe it was that. there was tons of carbon build up

i don't think it could have anything to do with the fan. my fan doesn't spin that freely but it only takes about as much force flick it as it does to open the door.

you also lost some back pressure which your a/f is not set for. the exhaust does not have as much velocity anymore and becomes more stagnant. of course it's still flowing out but it's not working as efficiently. i'm not the best at describing it so here's a link:
Back Pressure, is it needed? (http://genesisforums.org/hyundai-genesis-coupe-performance/7146-back-pressure-needed.html)

and here's a little guide to clean the carbon, very simple, just some seafoam. it will ruin your o2 sensor plugs and possibly your cat if you have one so do it at your own risk. i haven't tried it but i may soon to see if i find a difference. some people say seafoam isn't good to use and there's something else better to use and others say yeah go for the seafoam. i've used it in carberuated motors like a mower or pressure washer and it worked great but that's a different story
