View Full Version : Wanting a more supportive seat in my S14, ideas?

Okay, here's the deal. The S14 is my DD, its not currently built for speed, more for handling (although the wheel/tire/ride height kinda limits that aspect). I am 6'1", 175lbs, so i cannot really indulge in a setup that DECREASES headroom as i was stupid enough to end up with a car that is equipped with the sunroof.

So im looking for a seat/bracket combo that will allow for ALOT more support in the thigh and back/side areas. I'd prefer something lighter than stock with a bit of adjustability (recline) unless the seat just happens to be in the perfect position in non-adjustable form.

I dont ride gangster style with my seatback all the way back.

Im perfectly fine with considering a stock seat from another make (350z, S2000, etc) but im guessing those may actually ADD weight. Which i guess i wouldnt have a problem with so long as its not an obscene amount and the increase in support/comfort is worth the weight penalty.

Just trying to see whats out there and what my options are. The 240 needs a christmas present and as of right now, comfort-wise the seat is my biggest gripe.

I thought about getting S15 seats, but they only seem to be marginally better (at least by just looking at online pics).

S15 seats are a lot better.

Also, skyline r32 or r33 gtr seats are great.

Have bride in both mine we are about. The same height weight
One is stock height the other is lowered. The one at stock height
Is a lot easier to get in and out of. I find that it makes both a lot
Easier to get in and out of if I slide the seat back all the way. And
Also like the fact the sparco harness is easy to this way also. I put
It on and then slide the seat up perfect fit
Imho

I can vouch for r32 gtr seats though they can be pricey depending on where you get them from.

Wow thanks for the ideas i'll do more research on these options. Luckily atlanta area is not far from me and i think most of the OEM seats can be found around there so i wont have to ship. I used to own an AP2 so i do remember how nice those seats are.

I find myself constantly wondering how easily an SW20 mr2 seat would be to adapt. My other car is one and i LOVE the seat in that car. Might look into that as well. Although it'd most likely need to be recovered as stock mr2 cloth seats are ugly.

LOL Nice on the budget seats ;)

If I were in a "shopping" position instead of a "research" position, I would totally hit you up for that black Friday deal! GLWS!!!
