Ok so, I am currently building my ka24e for boost. Honestly, I would be happy for anything from 200-350whp. Anyways, this month I will be rebuilding the motor. High compression + PUMP GAS (or e85 maybe) + boost. Meth injectors? For now I would just like to focus on building the engine. I won't get into boost until next year.
A couple of friends are helping me out(George/Derek). OK. so far I have removed the engine and tranny from the car. Engine has been completely stripped and ready for the machine shop. Block is on stand and head on a table chillin. Might take tomorrow or tuesday. 3 day turnaround time....
This car is auto but i am also going to convert it. Maybe I'll add the 5 speed before I put engine back in if my funds allow for it.
I'm hoping to finish the rebuild before the end of this month. And I can always add more things as i go along.(new belts..etc) Next year I'll concentrate on suspension, fuel system, & boost. One step at a time. For now just the rebuild. I know it will cost me around $5-7k for rebuild + boost.

Questions are, what should I have the machine shop do to it? Block and head.
I was thinking
Bore to 89.50mm,
Hone
Hot tank
Mill the head
I got an estimate for $180 bore/hone and deck + $45 to mill head and hot tank/clean both. Not bad compared to other shops around my area.
Anyways.. what else should I have them do?
Ok I also ordered these things for the build.

Forged Eagle Rods $325
ACL/Clevite-rod/main-Bearings $52
Valves exhaust&intake O&J.P. $180
ARP head studs $150?
OEM Nissan Gasket rebuild set $170 ?
NGK plug wires $33
Walbro 255lph fuel pump $100
Woodruff key $1
FRsport Timing chain kit $170?
Total parts = $1181 + i'm getting forged pistons for sure ($500+)

What else should I order?
I was thinking I should also get water pump and oil pump. Along with New Rocker arms? I'm thinking another ~$300-400 if I do.
I haven't ordered the pistons yet but I am thinking about the
Arias Forged pistons 10.8:1 89.50mm

While the block/head are at the machine shop and parts are being delivered I think I'll clean the engine bay. Might add some color to it.

Have been busy lately. And the machine shop has been laggin it. They closed the whole week of thanksgivings. Anyways. once I get my block back I will begin putting in some work. For now I put in a ka24e with 112k miles into my hatch so I can get around untill I get my other KA in one piece. It's in pretty good shape and gets me sideways. I thought it was fun once I got it running. Took a few hours. I found out it's a lot easier to pull out than install....... I did run into some problems like oil leakage. But lucky for me it was only a bolt on the oil pan that was loose. Also I forgot to completely tighten one of the hoses so coolant was leaking. I was in a hurry to get the car running that I completely forgot about it.

I'm also thinking I should get a VG tranny. According to other forums, KA trannys won't handle much power/ agressive driving. So they get the VG tranny when reaching 300hp +.

I guess they couldn't read "DO NOT BEND"

I just need some PlastiGauge, Engine Assembly Lube, and Feeler Gauges and I should get started.
I'm surprised Auto-zone didn't have these in stock

damn, that blows about the gasket. I also received a bent gasket the other day, a cometic exhaust one, i think it was fedex thou, and I didnt complaint 'cause it wont affect it, but damn those sons of bitches....

But anyway, nice parts. I didnt see anything about the valves, getting a valve job? Or just lapping them yourself?

Yea either I will get a valve job or buy a new head. Head comes with everything. Port and polish/ 3 angle valve job, New rocker arms/shafts, milled. My rocker arms are garbage and I fear my head is warped. I will find out once I get those feeler gauges.
And my head gasket was cracked/torn in one spot. It's an OEM replacement from Nissan.

Since I will be getting a full refund I might get a cometic HG for the dual cam and adapt it to my single cam. OR just have one custom made for it.

I'm a fan of single cams, I'll be keeping my eye on this!

Are the pistons rated for dual cam or single cam? Compression wise

They are rated for single cam. Not dual cam. I was going to get dual cam rated pistons but then I found these.

also get yourself an L28/280z oil pump it flows more. mechanical rocker assy with upgraded springs and cam will get you revving to the 8k range safely.

definitely following this, single cams don't get enough respect.

i love this! ka24e's get no love, but people have no idea of their potential.

Man, at least I'm not the only one going big with a single cam. I too will be going for 400+ hp with mine! Once my dual cam is done and over 400hp that is...

I never heard of the l28 oil pump upgrade, I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

@ Vader, keep up the work!

basically the l28 oil pump is the same as the KAe nismo oil pump so you get a bit more PSI with it but not the price. you can also shim the stock pump

Yea I forgot to add the oil pump to the list, l28 fits right in. I heard the ka24e starves for oil at around 5500 rpm? due to its oil pump.

yes also kae is known for valve float above 5500 as well.
my plan is to run a xcessive windage tray and possibly xcessive modified oil pan in conjunction with the l28 pump.
