I searched around with my issue and couldn't really find anything, so i'll post in here hoping someone knows something.
I have an rb20det in one of my s13's. Problem being, the car will not start without me helping it with the gas pedal a bit. When it gets pretty cold out (like it is now) the car barely starts. I literally sat and cranked it 7-8 times before it finally turned over. And that was with me pushing the gas pedal in a good bit. Also, the weird part is once the motor is at normal operating temp it will start first try every time. No pedal assistance, nothing. The colder outside it gets the harder it is to start. When its like 70 degrees out you have to try to start it maybe 2-3 times, after that it will turn over. Any help is appreciated.

welcome to owning a rb / cab
Did you check the water temp sensor ?
It sounds like a lack of enrichment when cold.

It might be your start signal wire not being hooked up. You have to splice the wire in from the dash harness, so it will flatten the fuel maps on cold start.
It is part of the plug that you use that is next to the blower on the passenger side. Should also have the temp gauge sensor wire on it.

If the CTS for the ecu was bad it would want to idle at like 2500 but give it a go anyhow. If all input sensors are good I would think 2 things.... timing is off or there is an IAC valve issue as well. I would start with the basics on it. Set tps, set timing, check for any unmetered air leaks, check and clean sensor connections.

I actually think it is a lot to do with the iacv. My old ka had the same issue but not nearly as bad. Plus we all know how iacvs go bad on nissan motors. Probably gonna be my first step aside from the CTS
