My lower timing chain was off. So I went ahead and took the lower timing cover off replaced the chain, tensioner, and the 2 guides. The problem I'm having is putting on the lower timing cover. Is there some sort of way to lining it up? This is my first time removing the lower cover so I want to mess things up. I'm already on day 2 of trying to put the lower cover on. Any help would be much appreciated. Its a ka24de.

What is your issue with lining it up? It should have a couple dowel pins, pretty simple...

I see the dow pins. I lined it up and tapped it in but the top part of cover near the headgasket won't go in. When I try to tap that part in, the bottom portion comes loose. I thought maybe its hitting something so I removed the chain tensioner and guides. It still wouldn't go in.

Well I just found out it was my new right guide that I replaced. It must be preventing the cover from going in. Once i took it out the lower cover was able to slide in....ty rockauto...ty.

So I have a new question. Do I really need the right lower guide? I threw my old one away and I do t want to buy another one if I don't need it.

Any help? I called the dealer asking for the lower right timing guide and he said that I don't need it anymore...any thoughts? Opinions? Recommendations? I heard some peiple say that we need it and its a must for the lower timing chain.
