so Ive checked all clearences on my main bearings and they all check ok, i used some lucas engine lube on them, assembled and torqued them accordingly, however Ive heard that you should be able to rotate the crank by hand, on my block you cant, i had tripple checked the clearences before assembly so this is bugging me bad any ideas??

Yes I plastigauged them and they are all within specs, I can rotate the crankshaft if I have the crank pulley bolt on and use a socket, but ive heard that you should be able to rotate it with your hands with little effort (doesnt make sense due to clearences)

I would say if u platigauged and everything was in spec u should be ok. I've built motor sthat could be turned by hand and some that couldn't. It's kinda hard to explain but do u feel uniform resistance all 360 degrees of rotation? Like it doesn't feel like it gets harder then easier or anything like that?

Its a little hard to start the rotation but once its free it will rotate uniformly, doesnt get hard at some points

Then you should be fine.

i agree you'll be fine, built engines for a couple of years for a living. Just my 2 cents.

I just put my sr back together after installing a built head and 272 cams...for some reason when i try to turn the engine by crank and socket it is extremely hard. Is it possible when i did the timing chain that I skipped a tooth or put the slack to the tensioner the wrong way???

Check the gears, does sound like youve skipped a tooth
