I was hoping to get a '97 240SX but due to the lack of availability and the high price I've decided that an S13 Coupe might do the trick for me. Problem is I'm not too familiar with these. What year would be the best year to get and what should I look out for?

89-90 is sohc
91-94 is dohc
if u plan on doing a SR20det swap then get a 91+
S13 has better cornering than the S14
but the S14 is more comfortable....

'89-'90 was SOHC 140hp
'91-'94 was DOHC 155hp
'91 was the best year of cams
'94 was the convertible-only year
'95 and up have the best suspension (sorry, drifter)
Coupe has less weight than hatchback due to the absence of rear glass.
i agree i can out handle mah friend in his s-13 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':D'> and he KNOWS how to drive so <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

if u modify both cars, the S13 drifts better

Do all S13 Coupes have the projector lights or do some have pop ups?

The one that has projectors is an s13 sylvia *drool* you're not going to find one in the states, well... not a real one anyway. An s13 240sx have popup headlights.

oh ok, that's cool. i'm not sure why (probably just cuz they're newer), but in my option video i have, i would have to say the most drifting cars r the s14's, then s13's, then the ae86's, then rx-7's, in my video at least.

AE86 is support to be an awesome drift car if not the best

yeah, my friend had a really nice one supercharged n all back in oki. i only drove it twice cuz it was his baby, but all i can say is that it's "sensitive," if u knew exactly what u were doing it's a bad ass car. i could definitely tell i needed some more practice drifting.

hachi rokus arent the BEST drift cars.. but they are cheap and parts are readliy availbe so its the most popular among drifters.. the power of silvias alone can make them a more than decent drift car...

I noticed that alot of AE86 drfit is not as good looking as the S14s. Not because AE86 is not a good car, but because they usually run out of juice towards the end of difting.
I'm not saying that I haven't seen some nice drifting with the AE86. It's just that you have to greatly modify the output of the car to keep the car in drift.

keep in mind thought that silvia's actually r really big drifting cars in japan. it's actually how i first got into the silvias.

I don't know how to do quotes, but why is this being said?

Its being said, because u don't have to modify the P/S lines, and don't need to get a 91-94 gauage cluster. thats if u have an 89-90.
Also, if you have a 91-94, the compressor bolts right on some SR's using the KA bracket.
If you had an 89-90, you might have to welded up a custom bracket to make it fit, if u want a/c.
