well, i got tired of the 7 color car, so i let the 50 dollar solution have its way...it actually turned out better than i expected...i kind of like it! =)

did you prep the car at all or just spray paint over the old stuff?

i sanded the car with 180 grit to rough up and remove some of the clearcoat, then i primed it, then sanded the primer with 400 grit, then painted the topcoat, i only put 1 coat on, it would probably look even better if i would have done another coat

i learned pretty quick that you have to wipe down each area before spraying, cuz paint vapor settles on it while you are painting other areas, if you dont' wipe the 'dust' off, it really turns out shitty--i had to completely resand the trunk lid cuz i made this mistake

I like black primer better than grey, just personal opinion. :D bu the car looks nice, i got about 2-3 diff shades of red on mine :tweak:

i used rustoleum flat black protective enamel

i didn't really want a shiny finish, this is a little bit of a different look, i already have a regular nice shiny black car

when i had it primed it was a light grey, that looked kind of interesting...but i stuck with my plan

Sure, its not the hottest paint job EVAR!!1!!1! but it really makes the car look like a complete package, and not something that is still kind of just thrown together, you know?

looks good for a rattle can job.. any sanding marks or spray lines in it?

it was tough to not get uneven-ness on the big flat surfaces like the hood and trunk lid, i shoul dhave taken them off and put them vertical and they would have turned out better, but a second coat also could have fixed that

i did a decent job sanding the car, and the primer after i primed it, so it is pretty smooth, it will tide me over until i feel the need to spend big $$ on a nice paint job and some body work

the pain in the ass about it is that it scratches really easily, fingernail--scratch, some ass leans up against it, their zipper or whatever will scratch it..but oh well, i have two cans of $2.81 body shop in my trunk and theres plenty more where that came from

hahaha, hell yea, i bought a paint gun and am going flat black on my fast back but now that i see this im considering just using spray cans..... only yours looks more grey than flat black to me? i know of a brand of hi-temp flat black that is really dark so ill probably use that instead. looks good though man, im seriously considering this now...

I saw your writeup about when you did it, it looked better in the night pictures (minus all that tracer light crap you did, i know your a photo student or wahtever but that stuff was gay) but all in all it looks good, pretty smooth. ill probably buy like 10 cans instead of 7 like you so i can get it nice and uniform. post more pics in a few weeks if it starts to deteriorate or anything

one more thing, will you elaborate on that wiping off paint vapor? WTF is that?

i've been rocking the rattle can for 2 years now. Only problem with it is, it seems to hold water, and rust easier, but thats nothing some sanding and repainting cant deal with. It might be the trimclad paint i used, but whatever, i'm going to sand it all down again this summer, and spray it with a gun, go for a satin black finnish maybe.

The one thing i do love about the rattle can job is, that when you are active in anysort of motorsports, you are going to hit somthing sometime, or in my case, somthing will fall off. I love it, that it only costs me $5 to fix the pannel.
