Recently going 5spd, in the process, motor I bought came with a Nissan OEM clutch with ~1k mi, according to the owner. I have a pretty basic setup, Garret T3T4 turbo, with sr20 injectors running at 8psi... Just curious if and for how long clutch will hold up...

Run it. There isn't any real telling how long its gonna last, but I can tell you eventually when it does go out your gonna want to go with a more aggresive clutch and pressure plate setup.

I think if your planning on making more power later on, why not just upgrade to something a bit better. Save yourself the trouble of having to wrestle the trans on the ground (if you don't have a lift or work at a shop).

Funds are a little tight. Not planning on making much more power any time real soon. It's not like I'm putting out huge hp numbers just didn't kno how many ftlb the stock nissan clutches were rated at...

Don't push it very hard at all, it'll just make issues worse.

There's no issues at all right now... Just curious if it's even worth dropping in... There's no point if it's going to slip every time I boost. Will it hold at all?

i tried a ka-t t25 9psi with a stock vatozone clutch once and it'd slip a lot

It probably wont last as long as you want it to. You have to remember its made for a 150hp 155 ft/lb motor. Do it right and you wont have to worry about it slipping.

Ah, I misread it.

I mean the 370cc injectors will keep you to 225ish hp, but the KA torque will push you past the clutch limit for sure

oem clutch would probably hold for awhile, but save yourself the hassle and spend the $300 to do a clutch while you are doing the 5 speed. It will give you peace of mind too.

An upgraded clutch is worth it. Just use what you have now. Just save up for one.

No, the clutch will not last. I'm speaking from experience.

One used clutch, one brand new clutch, (both stock ka clutches) then went w/ an rb flywheel and z32 clutch setup.

I blew both ka clutches in less than 3 months. They both slipped under 8lbs of boost, always.
Don't waste your time.

QFT!

I went with the RB/Z33 combo as well. holds up to 12psi on my Bullseye S259 turbo.

I have a barely used Nismo Coppermix clutch for sale!! Perfect for basic KA-T

One of the last parts of my "doing it wrong" years, I tried saving money and running RB25 flywheel and RB25 Exedy OEM clutch on my KA-T. It holds fine, even through a drift event at T3/T4 12psi but I would recommend using an upgraded RB25 clutch.

Somehow my clutch pedal felt softer with the OEM RB25 clutch than the OEM KA clutch that was once there. I was running a new Master, slave, freshly bled fluid and stainless steel line on both setups. I believe the culprit is the OEM RB25 pressure plate.

Edit: this is an old thread that's been bumped.. well hopefully this helps someone else that searches for this thread

Stock clutch ate shit under 8psi with a t28. No hard driving whatsoever. Couldn't hold anything over 4k rpm in 1st or 2nd gear. It only got worse.
