I was just wondering what other people's experience is on the reliability of the SR20DET motor...

I know it is pretty bullet proof, handles boost well etc but how long does it last under normal driving? 100,000 miles? 200,000 miles? How many miles have you guys put on your swap?

I am currently averaging 70 miles a day (about 2000 miles a month) commuting on my SR motor and it is doing ok... but trying to gauge how long it'd last me at this rate given normal maintenance etc.

long as any other production engine. its just like your KA. take care of it it'll last a long time abuse it it'll blow. I do the 30min commute to work everyday thing too besides the recent whatever issue mine had (electrical not mech) no problems.been doing it for two years

im going on 6 months with this 11 sec setup. I had an issue with ignition, the coilpacks not firing properly wasting things out.

On SR20's (any motor actually), mileage is just a number.
What matters is the level/quality of maintenance along the way. As well as how well the engine accessories are operating (P/S, Belts, Water Pump, Etc.).
But, the almighty key that defeats mileage is compression. It doesn't matter if the motor has 240,000 miles on it. If compression is good, it will run like a queen. Daily driving included...

Ive been driving about 100miles a day on it for the past 3 months. Only problems were Iacv, and boost leaking through the stock recirc. valve.
