View Full Version : causes of a bouncy tach needle.

so my tach needle is just bouncy lol. idles perfect but i see my tach needle go alittle up and down but never below 700 rpm. (idles at 700). causes? electrical connection? tach itself? im stumped!

i don't know what chassis you have but there was a write up for the kouki that had you soldering a few pieces in the back of the cluster. i think the people that did it had good success. but it was specific to the kouki cluster only. i'd really have to dig to find the thread though.

Check all your grounds. Hell, add new ones. lol.

usually in any electronics with symptoms like that, it's some sort of interference. check your wire under the hood. make sure it's not frayed or anything.

Do you have an S13 or an S14? S14's are notorious for having tach failures, but it's usually pretty consistent across all RPM ranges.

My s14 is doing the same, im going to do some digging as well..

Its for a s13. Ill double check grounds and check for wire interference.
