I have been thinking about this for a long time. If anyone has done it it would be cool to see what it looks like.

sanding down a vinyl dash and door panels isnt gonna give you a good result, now maybe dying..could possibly, but personally i say get it reupolstered

i think what he means is sanding the vinyl will give u a scratchy look but if your dye it they you will keep the smooth look and feel you hav now

actually thinkn bout it if u do sand it w/ soft paper like around 400 grit it will take off the shine and giv it a flat color i'd still die it and keep the shiny look it looks hot

Dood 320 grit is gonna FUCK up your dash, if you're gonna do it do it with a 1000grit or something.....BTW...there is no 400 Grit ;) closest thing is a 320 Grit

what kind of look are you going for?

if your going for the smooth painted dashes, your going about it all wrong. On vinal dashes you need to pull the dash out and lay a light coat of fiberglass resin down on it and then sand it down smooth but dont cut into the vinal. Then primmer it sand it with 1500 gritt then paint it.

oh yeah scuff up the dash before you lay the resin. If you need a little more details or need to know how to get crazy with fiberglass e-mail

actually i wa saying that our dashes are extremely soft, and our doorpanels are as well, if you paint some thing like that, even after sanding it, the paint is gonna flake away, even if you use a paint with a good amount of FLextone in it. The texture from the vinyl combined with the softess/flex that it has, there isnt anyway it'll stay long, and if it does, sanding it, and just panting it isnt gonna yield to great of results...., if you want a smooth glossy dash and doorpanels, why not make a mold and make a fiberglass one?, make some profit off of it to, im sure there would be a few people out there willing to purchase them if they were a quality product
