Sup guys!, havent been on here since 2008. Recently picked up PRISTINE 240sx vert with a blacktop SR. Kid who I bought it from did the swap but couldn't get it running so I picked it up.

Fixed a list of issues -timing was off, cas wheel bent, intake cam keyway stripped, missing rocker shim, etc

So, Today,- I need suggestions where to look to get this puppy started. Here's where I am-

180psi across all cylinders
I'm so damn confident the timing/CAS is spot on. I'm guessing if I was off on the timing chain I wouldnt be getting good compression. And yes, the CAS was set at TDC on the compression stroke, verified by the cams at 10 and 12,2nd line from the left on the crank, a compression tester on cyl 1, and 9 links between the marks on the cam gear. I'll still post pics in the morning .

Here's my known symptoms-

When the motor turns over, there are bouts of hesitation (a load on the motor) followed by a gunshot sounding backfire shortly after

With the fuel fuse OUT, the motor turns over like butter with only the sweet sound of compression

Thats it. EARLY on after correcting the timing, I did a quick test start and got running for the first time since the swap- like crap, but did fire up. Any gas given while it was running would cause the car to stall and was otherwise idling rough/shaking motor.

So, if you have any ideas or even a checklist, I'll look in to everything suggested and follow up with what I find.

Check spark plugs and your mafs.... Too much fuel and drowning the plugs.

So it starts, but runs like ass?
After start up don't apply any throttle, if that kill it, let it run. Get a timing light and adjust the timing to 15deg BTDC. Let it warm up, your wideband should lean out at 78c, at 80c you should be able to apply throttle, quick blips from the bay too or above 3k 3times. you should probably open the AICV more to help keep it running before the throttle blipping. Idea is to keep the engine running long enough to get base ignition timing, and idle correct. If you do it right, you'll be revving like a mustang/wrx asshole in minutes!

looks and sounds like there's no gas!
