Has anyone ever done business with these Sunrise JDM Motors? I'm getting way ahead of myself but I'd just like to know cause their prices seem more than fair but the fact that they misspelled 'password' on their registration kinda puts me off... Feel free to let me know of other good motor importers. Main reason I ask is cause they all have different prices so a kid working every week I kinda wanna goal. Thanks!

Buy in person only man.
It will save you a lot of head aches.
I see you are in 'bama. So either find someone with some positive rep out in Atlanta or head up to Zerolift.
Zerolift is in Fairfield Ohio, which is 7 hours north of Birmingham. A ~14hr drive is better than wasting thousands of dollars on some bullshit internet fake Canadian company and spending $400+ on shipping.
While you may not be able to know the exact internal condition of the engine, you'll be able to inventory all the parts coming with it, verify harnesses, connectors and sensors are usable, and you'll also be able to make sure it's transported back to your place in good condition.
Zerolift started off shaky, but has been a solid supply in recent years. You won't have any problem buying direct and their prices are inline with going rates.

Please Note: I would take this glimmer of wisdom and run with it. You are also inline to be executed for asking one of the most played out and annoying fucking questions ever. So before you even think of then asking... what engine to get... just don't.

Looks like their back where they started.
Either way, this is why it's important to just buy in person. Then there is no issues with shipping taking to long, damaged parts, missing parts or having the wrong stuff shipped to you.
Even search craigslist for a local, the OP may be surprised.

hahaha im going with sr whenever the time comes... and yeah i didnt know zerolift was that close, relatively speaking with the money ill be spending. However, if ZeroLift is back to their old ways cause ive researched them as well and even read that thread posted.. who else? i havent really ventured into looking into atlanta importers seeing as all i ever here is the importers that everyone uses which seems to be hit or miss. the only ive heard of being consistently amazing is jdmhookup. but their price is a little steep but i guess you get what you for. if anyone from the atlanta area has dealt with importers in that area lemme know. thanks for your input! edit: also i follow jdmengineworld on facebook and everyone on their page seem to love it and they SEEM to be reputable.. any proof of this? i researched them and mixed reviews such as every importer..

I drove down to St.Louis to go to JDMhookup for my SR motor. It was kinda pricey and a drive but it was well worth it. Dewy is the man and answered all my questions and let me inspect and pick out what motor I wanted. He told me he personally goes over to Japan every couple months to pick out what motors he wants to pull, and then sends them back to the US.

I paid 3500 for a full s14 front clip, but I got lucky adn it came with a bunch of optional parts, front mount, bomex bumper, arc intake and an old hks BOV along with the factory 30mm 4 piston calipers. I ordered from Osaka JDM Motors. I heard afterwards that they had been iffy but when mine came in without the Ignitor I sent them an email and they mailed it to me in a few days.
that's my only experience. but honestly keep an eye on Craigslist. I've seen a few crop up near me, and though they may not be in great condition at least you can see it can maybe even hear it run. plus with the money you save you might be able to afford a full rebuild.
also I don't know if Enjuku still does complete engines or not, maybe MazWorx also, though I don't think they deal in anything less than full rebuilds with mostly higher than OEM level parts.

Heavythrottle used to sell them for over $3k.
I paid $1,700 for mine from a Zilvia member. Came with a ton of parts too.

.
Op do not buy from Canada. To many issues with fly by night dealers and the whole customs/credit card refund issue.

Anyone tried ebay? Lots of sellers have 100% positive feedback, so it seems like a good idea maybe?

By far the best motors in the Midwest. Dewey will take care of you. Reason why this guy is so successful at what he does.

They haven't since the reorganization(years ago). After what I went through with them near the end I understand why. Harness was hacked and ECU was for a VQ. Took them 6 months to find another ECU and fix my harness.
IMHO Zerolift buys motors from JP sight unseen and doesn't check them. When they get them and their is something wrong. Then they scramble to find replacement parts. I have sold them parts to then find a post about someone waiting on that part from them because it was broken.

Zerolift just has/had sketchy employees. Stealing multiple engines from the company, ect.
Buying it in person is obviously best. You can pop the VC, check it out. It's cheaper an better just to be patient and wait for that right one to pop up local.
Whatever you buy in person get all the paper work and SIGN A DETAILED BILL OF SALE. Something expensive like and engine should be a no brainer. If you get fucked and something is not as it was described you now have wayyy more legal leverage and grounds to sue if it came to that.

Yeah sorry I wouldnt use Zero lift. I was trying to pick up a motor from Zerolift, happy to take my card number on a deposit. Pretty much stopped answering there phones after that, had to file a dispute to even get a response for a refund and still nothing.

No, I've actually heard ebay is one of the best places to buy an engine if you're looking online. You can see the exact engine you're getting and if the seller has 100% positive feedback there should be no problems with the motor you get. Honestly, that's what I would do if I couldn't find one locally.

I bought my first SR on ebay..had no issues, they even sent an additional BRAND NEW sr harness because the one that came with the motor was hacked. came with a tomei short shifter as well. It was a great motor.
However, I could have just been lucky....
